This place is fantastic. The food is lovely and so are the people. While I was waiting for my food, a homeless women came in to buy hot coffee for one pound. The gentleman working, whom I assume is the owner asked her if she was hungry. She was, and he offered her a sandwich. Not just jam on toast or something; but he let her pick a hot sandwich. He was very kind and respectful to her which warmed my heart to see. When my food arrived I was terribly pleased with the quality and flavor, as were my company. I would have paid double for the experience.
Really lovely; charismatic place, friendly staff and very VERY good food
Kiwi Spirit in London's East End. Visiting my daughter in London, I wasn't willing to pay a high price for a less than adequate hotel breakfast. So we wandered off up the road in search of a typical east end 'caff'. What we found was a surprise and a delight - the spirit of New Zealand in the Long White Cloud.
Ex-pat Kiwis and travellers to New Zealand will know that the name is the English translation of the Maori word for their homeland. I have enjoyed a Maori feast (hangi) and this too was a feast but of a more traditional kind known to the English. We had a 'full English breakfast' for £8 with really big cups of tea and a touch of Kiwi finesse.
This café is also a space for original art and music. I was going to describe the food to you but I think you need to see it and taste it because it is the special touches they bring to their food that makes it Kiwi culinary art. Visit quickly before the world beats you to it.
Web-site //longwhitecloudhoxton.com Address: 151 Hackney Road, E2 8JL.
Long White Cloud is quite an innocuous little place in amongst the inner city mix of charm and squalor that Hackney Road juggles so well.
Good Cafe for breakfast. Original and creative place, where they display artworks to sell as in an art gallery. The place was quite full and I was happy to find a table after a few minutes.
I ordered some apple pie and coffee, which were both lovely. The coffee was okay, and not too creamy. The pie was sweet and soft, very likely to be homemade. I suggest going for casual and fulfilling breakfasts. Prices are average and 10 £ should do.
Great little Cafe, friendliest staff, good food, and run by New Zealanders!
Long White Cloud is a little Cafe on Hackney Road about a 5-10 min walk from the Columbia Road flower markets and perfect if you're wanting some brunch away from the hustle and bustle post flower shopping.
It is owned by New Zealanders so it must be good...
The cafe is nice and fresh with white walls and wooden tables and chairs. The two little tables out the front are perfect for making the most of the last remaining sunny days and also for people watching.
We ordered breakfast off the special board: poached eggs, salmon and avocado which was delicious and came on perfectly grilled wholemeal bread. At 8 pound i think it was a winner. They have a great array of salads and quiches lined up along the bar as well. I couldn't help but order some lentil salad to be served on the side of my breakfast. It cost 4 pound for half a spoonful which was a bit annoying but nevertheless it was tasty.
Unlike a lot of London cafes with their bored, too cool waiters the staff here were genuinely friendly and efficient. Very refreshing.
Coffee: good and drinkable, not the best coffee in the area but certainly not the worst.
If you're a kiwi they also sell Marmite, Vegemite and pineapple lumps. Success. Will definitely pop in to try one of the pies and quiches next time I'm walking past.
Just recently moved to the area and after walking past a few times I decided it was time to actually try it out and stop peering in!
Went on a Sunday afternoon around 12 and it was quite busy but no queue. Even though there were lots of people and waitresses milling around it did't feel too cramped or stressful. I had the veggie breakfast which was very nice although I wasn't entirely full afterwards. Hot chocolate is very good, not too chocolatey so it feels slightly healthier! The person I was with had a peanut butter smoothie and absolutely loved it.
Very nice atmosphere, good food and they even offer a range of gluten free cakes/pastries.
Located a few minutes away from Hoxton railway station, Long White Cloud is a Kiwi-owned, free-range, free-trade café-cum-gallery space which serves up interesting brunch-type meals such as smoked salmon scrambled eggs and french toast with bacon and banana.
It was pretty filled at 11 in the morning, but not enough to gather a queue. The interesting thing about this café is the fact that they display local artworks which are also on sale. When I was there two weeks ago, Kate Ardern's intriguing 'Into The Wild' paintings were up on the walls, most of them already marked as sold.
I got myself a full English breakfast, something I realised that I'd not yet actually had in this country.
It was filling - I think the word 'full' applies to the state of the diner's tummy rather than what's on the plate. The food was alright, the beans felt home-made and authentic though, definitely not Heinz.
What still lingers in my mind is their peanut butter and banana smoothie which is so simple but so good. It wasn't too sweet, and both flavours were balanced beautifully, inspiring me to try blitzing my own sometime soon.
They've got an evening menu as well with the likes of pies, burgers and fish cakes. I'd love to go back there some time soon to chill in their intimate setting with some French toast and bacon!
We love this cafe - Mehmet and his team are so kind and welcoming.
The food is home cooked and delicious, with reasonable prices and good portions.
The coffees and takeaway drinks are served in either recyclable takeaway cups, or combustible cups made from plant based materials.
They offer loyalty card to regular visitors.
Highly recommended!
One of the best place to have a breakfast in London. I was looking for a high-protein breakfast that would fit my diet so I got Egg whites omelette which was super delicious. However, it was impossible not to try the oat cookie and even to buy some for take away. Fantastic place with very welcoming and nice people, love it! ♥️🙏🏼
I trust a coffee shop that opens at 7am in the morning and shuts at 5pm. ♥️ I also trust any place that is friendly and welcoming to every person that walks in. I came for coffee and left with coffee, a handful of goodies and a smile on my face. 💐 15/10 would recommend!!!
Service and the quality of the food are really good. My salad was absolutely delicious, and the Peanut butter protein shake was lovely and crunchy. I will definitely be returning!
This was my favourite place to get coffee and breakfast on my visit to London. The coffee is great, the food is delicious, and the staff/owners are lovely.
Would HIGHLY recommend.
Amazing team - they’re so welcoming caring. I had a take away soup but the service was incredible! 😭 they also have amazing pastries.
Honestly, I’ve been visiting hundreds of bakeries and cafes here in London, but here the food was prepared like from my grandma- real food, extremely delicious! Excellent service and staff.
If you’re in this area - don’t miss this place for breakfast etc. and the banana bread as well!
This place is a wonderful gem and serves quite possibly the best full English brekkie in London. I would have posted a photo of it but it was so delicious, I’d already eaten it. The owner puts his own little twist on the traditional cafe menu. The coffee is amazing. If you’re busy, the take away food is delicious. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the artwork on the walls is great and changes regularly. You can either buy the ones you like!
Stumbled across this place looking for a bacon and egg sandwich. It didn't disappoint. Neither did the Full English. Wonderful food, served by a very friendly team. The lovely lady who brought our food over had a beaming smile that reminded me of my grandmother when she used to spoil me with her delicious home cooked food. Happy memories. The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommended. Will try and visit again soon.
This cafe has delicious food and great staff. I love coming here. Definitely try the banana breads, soups, and sandwiches.
