George's Diner

George and his wonderful fish restaurant / fishmonger are an asset to this part of Chiswick High Road. George has pitched his restaurant perfectly to the local crowd. Over on the East End of the High Road, punters spend quite a lot during the day on coffees, mumsy/dadsy stuff etc., but not so much on eating out for dinner, where we prefer to go instead a couple of hundred yards up the road to restaurants in Chiswick with 20-200 per head menus (Franco Manca all the way up to Hedone). George is so very friendly, we love getting his dinner recommendations and the noises that come from our table when the food turns up... they are like this: "oooh" and "wow" and "mmmm that is so SO good". Mauritian curry. Deep dark flavoursome curry with various types of fish that melt in the mouth, a subtle aftertaste of cardamon. Wonderful home-cooked curry, nothing like what you find in pretty much any other restaurant selling curry. This is the real deal. A dish whose name I've forgotten (on the specials) - a wonderful delicate boullion. Couldn't stop nicking the food from my partner's plate like the seafood parasite I am! Can't wait to get back there for more delights. The thing I love about George is that he's not too posh to accommodate your request for a basic fish and chips, even if it's not on the menu (and presuming the place isn't packed out and he has the ingredients...)

I took my wife and two dear friends for Saturday dinner to this tastefully decorated restaurant. WoW !! Great selection of fresh seafood. My Bouillabaisse was heaven in the bowl. Scallops and Calamari where cooked to perfection. Very good selection of wines and the drink of your choice were made at the bar ;)) Fantastic atmosphere and Exelent service. Definitely we are looking forward to go back to George's Diner.

This is a hidden treasure. The freshest seafood cooked with passion and much love. Staff are amazing and George is the ultimate host. This is by far the best seafood I’ve ever tasted. This really is an experience. Recommend George’s Diner to anyone who wants quality food at reasonable prices. Love this place.

I had a lunch there and I was very surprised by the value of the meal. A full lunch for 15£ and the portion are really big. The fish and seafood were very fresh, I think I have never tasted this level of freshness in a restaurant ! The wine list is very interesting, diversified and affordable. There are some gems !

We had the most wonderful night at George's new restaurant last night. There is still the authenticity and charm that only comes when a restaurant is run by a family that adore the food they produce and value their customers. Naturally the menu is still centred around the Mauritian flavours that make George's so unique. The oysters were fresh and excellently prepared. My Halibut was exquisite, cooked to perfection and perfectly partnered with the Chinese style sauce and my partner loved her scallop dish. The in-house somelier (also our waiter) was very knowledgeable and picked some beautiful wines for a reasonable price. We used to live around the corner from George's previous spot in Notting Hill and we were devastated to see it move but now we look forward to making the trip to Chiswick in future. We wish George and his team a fantastic Christmas and we'll definitely be visiting again in the new year.
