Love it.....go there most of the time during college lunch breaks. The staff, food and atmosphere is excellent will defo recommend it.
Went here for afternoon lunch with some colleagues and our noon wasperfect with there perfect meal. I had an amazing food experience with some many dishes to be chosen.
Can't wait to go here again
Went for lunch, staff was nice and friendly, pretty quick service as it wasn't as busy, usually it's packed but that day was quite empty, food is good, price is reasonable as well, do recommend it.
We went to the recently opened Ilford branch and had the most fulfilling lunch:). My steak and mushroom pie was delicious, my friends shepherds pie was a bit strange had a pastry base but he still enjoyed. Sides were all lovely but a bit more variety would be nice for example beans and Yorkshire pudding should be on sides menu. My son ordered chicken strips which were unusual as they were fried in batter but really crispy and tasty. Kids enjoyed milkshakes too.£42 quid for four of us. They also have breakfast menu starting soon so will warrant another visit!
Food was lovely but was a little cold! The oreo milkshake is amazing!! Small place so had to wait for a little while to get a table but the staff were very helpful and lovely :)
The pie factory is one of two restaurants that I know of that focus on pies for halal food consumer. The other being pie Republic. Located in Whitechapel, opposite the east London mosque the location is ideal for the target crowd. I am always looking for places that offer alternative types of cuisine to ones that I am regularly accustomed to, Pies are not a food that I eat a lot of and it’s good to see that as a halal food addict that places are opening up that allow people like you and me to try food that has been unavailable to us growing up. I was always wanted to try what other people were eating as growing up I was just restricted to one type of cuisine, food from the indian sub continent. I think as a Londoner, we are lucky to have no so many different food choices to pick from. Anyway I digress.
In the middle of the hustle and bustle of whitechapel is this small joint called the pie factory.
The moment you enter you are greeted by the warm aroma of baked pies. The ambience is welcoming and prepares you for some nice comfort food. Trying a shephards pie in london was on my checklist and that is exactly what i did. It took a while to prepare but they did claim to freshly bake each order.
The pie comes with a choice of gravy and two sides. I ordered spiced mashed and wedges with onion based gravy.
All this for a lil over 5 pounds and it will leave you with no complaints. For indian tongues used to the roller coasters of spices this might be a little underwhelming but with some salt and pepper bobs your uncle.
Great food! I tried their chicken and mushroom pie and it was delicious. It seemed to have a hint of curry or something in it which made it so special and unlike any other pie I've ever had! The service was great and they made my pie from scratch since I had a bit more time on my hands and it was worth the wait. I will definitely be going again!
Best pies around - we got ours just out the oven so it was excellent . Chicken and mushroom pie was better in my view then sq pie company and the tika pie was excellent as well. To add to the pies they had a grilled half chicken that tasted Devine with roast veg and spicy mash. To top that up was a real red velvet cake -possibly the best red velvet cake served in the area. Unlike the others served locally it actually had cream cheese topping not just icing sugar -
Excellent value for money - 2 of us eat to our full for just £16 and that includes drinks and deserts. Highly recommend a visit.
Chicken and Mushroom Pie w/ Gravy, Spicy Mash Potatoes and Roast Vegetables: £4.95 | This was actually my second time at Pie Factory. The first time I went there, I had the Shepherd's Pie which I didn't really like but this time round, I went for the Chicken & Mushroom and it was just fab! The pastry was hot and crispy and the filling was just as fab! I opted for the spicy mash potatoes at an attempt to try something new but regretted it. It tasted horrible and something I'll avoid in the future. Other than that, it was a perfect meal. The service was excellent during both my visits. Also the presentation of the food is always beautifully done! If you're looking for a halal pie, I'd say Pie Factory is the place to go. Foodie.007 x
Nice little place opposite East London Mosque. I chose a spinach and feta pie with wedges and roast veg, my dining partner had the steak & mushroom pie with mash and roast veg. Crispy crust, nice filling. The price was really good. 4.95 for the feta pie which included 2 sides and pot of gravy or 5.50 for steak & mushroom with 2 sides & gravy. As it was chilly today I opted for a hot chocolate mmm. Worth a visit.
Nice cosy place 5 min walk from Aldgate east tube station. Come out of the station pass brick lane on your left. Walk straight, and it's on your left. The food was nice. Had the Beef Lasagne with a side of wedges. It was awesome! Texture/taste was nice and felt like it was freshly prepared. Just like Momma's. The chicken curry pie that the Mrs ordered was a different story. Didn't really like it. Neither did she. Tasted like bits of chicken in a garam masala paste. To be fair, Mrs wanted some chicken as we missed the breakfast at 12.30pm. Service wise was fine wait time was about 10-12 Mins. Went on a Saturday morning around 13.00 ish so wasn't busy at all. Over all good halal place to get some comfort food.
Simplicity is key here! Great place lovely workers and great table service. The food was divine and considering you can get a whole meal including drink for under £10 shows that it is great value for money! When I come here I always get the spinach and feta pie with spiced mash roasted vegetables it’s so beautiful. The only concern was when I ordered the Apple mojito it was not what I expected it just tasted like apple juice with mint leaves and I would not suggest anyone to get that. However, the strawberry mojito was absolutely stunning and without a doubt I would highly recommend! This place is also family friendly! When in Whitechapel try pie factory!
Very kind staff and the food is NEVER a let down.
It would be nice if you did card payments too
14/11/21 update. Im taking one star off because I and my friend came on Sunday only to find out that it was closed. Yet on google it says its open. Its wasted alot of our time and travel. We do not live close by so thats alot of travel money gone for nothing.
A really filling meal, VERY CHEAP, and with large portion sizes. The plain mash potato is a bit bland, but the gravy is a good substitute for flavour. The chicken and mushroom pie was delicious - creamy, saucy and very umami.
Not sure if this place is under new management but it’s much better now. The portions look small but I think it was the angle I took the pic.
Wonderful service. Freshly made hot pies which are well worth the wait (each pie comes with two sides). If you like spicy food, I recommend the the steak and mushroom pie along with spicy mash and roasted vegetables (be warned, the spicy mash along with the hot pie filling will set your tongue on fire).
I have given this place four stars instead of five as I feel that their pies are a tad bit too small. I find myself having to buy two meals (i.e. two pies and four sides) before being fully satisfied. However, some may find one meal sufficient. Overall a great place and would highly recommend!
Really good atmosphere. Prices are good. Good quality food. Service is good. Really friendly staff.
Variety of pies, paninis, jacket potatoes as well as fish pie and lasagne. Would recommend this place to any one. The pie is quite filling along with gravey and 2 choice of sides. Would visit this place again. 😊
This place has got better over the years. It used to have slow service and a limited menu but recently things have changed and it is a now decent. Location is fine as in front of mosque and with local parking available but this may not be suitable for outside visitors. Food is good with selection of pies and sides including premium sides. Prices are comparable to other similar places
Very reasonable value and lovely selection of pies. Will return!
Beautiful pie very cheap and friendly service. Loved it.
