Ratio decidendi: The queues out the door don’t lie. Everyone’s here for the grilled chicken. Your only real options are whether you want rice, salad or grilled vegetables for your sides and whether you want to be merely immobile after the experience (regular serving size) or comatose (large). While the queue can be intimidating, it moves quickly thanks to an efficient production line.

They serve a variety of sandwiches but their ultimate specialty is the Famous Grilled Marinated Chicken. It’s basically whole boneless chicken thighs that are grilled till slightly charred and then served with two sides plus a special homemade sauce (the Green sauce - made from coriander, spices and cold pressed rapeseed oil).

Assenhiem56 is located on Great Tower St near the Tower of London and has made quite a name for themselves serving up beautiful grilled Peruvian chicken to the lunchtime masses. They also do sandwiches and stuff too but if you walk away with anything other than the chicken, you've made a huge mistake.
As you can tell from my pics, to say that I come here often is a bit of an understatement - it's basically become religious and for me, it's the most perfect Friday lunch to power my way through to the weekend (though the afternoons are never very productive after!).
The process of ordering is extremely straightforward.
1) regular (2 chicken thighs, £7.50) or large (3 chicken thighs, £9.50)?
2) choose 2 sides of rice, vegetables, salad or patatas.
3) do you want Tabasco? (Yes)
4) do you want green sauce? (HELL YES!).
The green onion sauce is AMAZEBALLS and it's worth going for that alone (not that you ever would because that would mean passing up on the chicken which, like I said is a bad idea).
Only downside? This is definitely a once a week type treat, for me anyway. I don't think I could handle this on a daily basis otherwise my health and productivity would be severely compromised.

Having frequented assen's other location, I decided to give this one a go. Exactly the same standard rice / potatoes with veg / salad topped with chicken thighs, tabasco, and special green sauce! With the added bonus of shorter queues and being able to sit down. Prices are also the same at a standard 7.50 for a regular, and 9.50 for a large (very large) meal. The one big difference, is that the guys in this store aren't at all as banterous as the other! Don't let that put you off, the food is incredible and copthall ave have just set a very high standard. Definitely will come here again, and am still hoping these guys open up a few more outlets around the city.
Great lunchtime option and is hugely popular. There is usually a queue out the door that stretches past the next two stores! Once they start serving though, it starts to move quickly.
The grilled chicken is great. I usually opt for the rice and salad option, and of course both sauce options....Tabasco and the special secret green sauce. You gotta be quick and efficient with your order and the old guy who does the shout outs will actually get upset if you stand and delay his routine. Always fun to watch the novices try to place their orders :)

Amazing chicken and amazing wraps. Have to admit that this is one of the best lunchtime spots in the area and the staff are always friendly and attentive. make sure you get there early if you want a table at lunch ! We usually arrive too late so have to get take away !
Assenheims chicken is great! You get there and no matter how long the queue might look it moves and quite fast.
The price is very good for the size of the portions.
The dynamic is a little chaotic if you want to eat in, as you order like if you are doing take away and then you just grab your bag and go back inside to find a seat. And good luck finding one (seating space is very limited as the place is small)
Vegan options. Faux port and chicken served on bread of your choice with a green sauce.
South American cuisine. It gets crazy busy during lunch. Which shows its popularity. They close early. Around 5, plus run out of dishes so be quick. Theyve put their prices up recently. But so has many places. The price has put it into the treat section rather than a go to place for me now. Bit it's a v good treat. Pictured. The Patacones sandwich. Pulled beef covered by plantain as buns. Next level stuff. Highly recommended.
An absolute feast if you go for a large portion of their signature gilled marinated chicken dish! Their homemade "green sauce" is heavenly and I would recommend having this on top of some hot pepper sauce! Even if there's a big queue it moves quickly and there's a few seats available at the back to sit in.

Delicious filling sandwiches with amazing chicken! Staff are friendly and for the price (7.5) for the sandwich it is worth it. Most lunch food around there is £8 minimum.
Essentially, the food be slapping. Realistically, it will put you to sleep. Practically, I'd say get most of the work done in the morning prior to eating here to compensate for the drop on productivity in the afternoon post meal

One of the nicest places for lunch in The area. Get there early, the queues speak for themselves. Food is absolutely fantastic!
Really flavoursome, quick service for a quick bite. Went during lunch time it was still a fast service. The green sauce really added to the flavour so make sure you do add that when they ask. A nice option of sides to choose from.
