The Sun

We had a nice meal and the staff were nice and service good. However after our meal we asked to order puddings . We were told there was a 45 minute to an hour wait which is totally unacceptable. I know that others coming into eat were being told the same for lunch . This is poor planning . As a consequence we left and you lost out on extra orders of pudding and extra drinks.

Went for a reunion and was offered the upstairs dining room, communication beforehand was always clear, food/drink menu choices were very flexible. The train strike meant we lost a lot of numbers for the evening but they never put undue pressure on me at any stage to make decisions or finalise exact numbers. Upon arrival the staff were again very accommodating and flexible with late changes to food and ran the upstairs room very well. The room itself was a great space with high ceiling, large open windows and a balcony area round the back for fresh air. Food options were good and at great value for money. Michaela and her team did an excellent job and I can’t fault them at all. Would recommend for anyone wanting to host a large group

Don’t often leave reviews but making an exception here, the staff were extremely friendly and I have to comment because I was served the single best pint of Guinness I have ever had outside of Ireland poured by the ginger girl at the bar, it was perfect. Brilliant pub will visit again purely for that Guinness.

Chilled vibe with lovely friendly staff. Rustic dining with zero pretense. The Sun is perfect to just kick back and relax. Popped in to see my cousin but all the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable we stayed all night. Emily made us feel special with some incredible cocktails from the well stocked bar. She was great at keeping us topped up all night. The staff seemed to really really supportive and you could feel the fun and energy behind the bar. It’s worth noting if you want to find this pub, you’ll need to look for the only building in the area with worn out signage. Just another part of its rustic charm. Well worth a visit. Enjoy!
