The noodle wasn’t a disappointment at all! It came with big & wide noodle (wider than hor fun or kway teow), but I must say that this was probably one of the best noodles in London that I’ve tried so far. Usually some noodles taste a bit bland, but not this one. It’s spicy even for me (in a good way), and the beef was so soft. It didn’t come with a bowl of soup so the soup was from the chilli oil. Heard that the lamb is recommended so might go back and try the same menu with different meat.
After seeing pictures of a particular dish on Instagram I had to have it. After some really good investigation, I located it at Food House. Located in Chinatown, Food house serves authentic Chinese dishes with some amazing flavours. We ordered mapo tofu, aubergine, prawn skewers, grilled squid and chilli oil noodles. The menu has really interesting dishes from street food to hotpot so you definitely won’t be short of choice.
We came here for dinner and between the two of us, we shared the thinly sliced pork belly (my favourite), mapo tofu with pork (great level of spice), beef, pork and prawn skewers (good) and the beef xian biang biang noodles (felt this was a bit stodgy but flavour was decent). Service was efficient and one of the waitresses was helpful in giving helpful suggestions on what to order. I'll come back for their hotpot!
One of the best restaurants in Chinatown. It's so underrated , we absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered here . Slightly expensive but the portion size makes up for it . I would absolutely revisit this place . Highly recommend the Pork Belly, lamb skewers and smashed cucumber.
Simple interior but food is great. Crispy duck was tasty and actually crispy. Good selection of dishes available.
Went on Chinese New Year (22.01.2023) due to celebrations the streets were very busy, we were waiting in the queue for 45 mins! HOWEVER, the wait was absolutely worth it 💯
The service was very efficient and very friendly staff. The food food was delicious, we had steamed / boiled dumplings 🥟 we had 15 with pork and mushroom and 15 with pork and vegetables- totally recommend 👌🏽
We also had egg fried rice 🍚 and pork belly vegetables-was delicious as well (didn’t have that strong smell or taste of pork which is very important for me). There were people in the queue who were there a few times already and keep coming back. Definitely recommend the place if you are after good quality tasty Chinese food. Definitely will be back.
We happened to come across this restaurant today and decided to check it out. We had the Hot Pot and it was absolutely delicious! The service was beyond friendly on top of that. We had our 6 month old baby with us and the lovely lady serving us always distracted him, when he was about to get bored or upset so me and my husband could enjoy our food in peace. She was also super attentive about ingredients for the pot and drinks etc. Thank you so much for this unexpected "gift" - us and the little had such a great time!
If it's good enough for Jay Rayner then it's good enough for me. Birthday celebration. Fabulous table, lovely staff and delicious food I loved my crispy duck ... my friends were more adventurous, ordering a bit of everything and the food I tried of theirs was flavoursome and exciting. They all agreed it was totally delicious and resolved to go back and try the Hot Pot.
The marinate of the preserved egg and tofu was amazing and more so that it was a new taste for us and this made the experience special. The chili oil noodles are phenomenal! Our new fav place in China town. I’d recommend you book a table in advance so you skip the queues but bare in mind they don’t take reservations on the weekend. Service was good too.
Delicious authentic food served quickly. The pancakes were a bit dry but the duck was wonderful. The tofu dish was surprisingly good but not vegetarian as it contains pork.
I enjoyed the food, especially the green beans with chilli and garlic - it's a must have! The only downfall is the pricing. Everything is expensive but that's Soho for you! If you're not sure where to eat definitely check it out :)
Food House is on the same end of Gerrard Street as the grocers, right by the gate. No English sign. The food here is excellent with best lamb Skewers I think in London that I've had. I'm also a huge fan of the chive pie (on the menu under noodle dishes.) Staff are also very friendly. Not super glamorous inside with stacks of empty cardboard boxes in corners. But this is a place to go and eat good Szechuan food.
