I don’t normally review stuff as I am too lazy... but I will make an exception! This was probably one of the most enjoyable meals I have had in London... my wife pretty much eats out for a living and we both agreed the food was exceptional and some of the best we have every had in London. This was combined with a lovely group of people and great hosting! My only complaint is that we have not been able to go again. It is now on our list of first things to do when we come back to London!!!
Thanks to Gabriel's amazing talent he turned the most fabulous, fresh and exciting ingredients into an outstanding 5 course meal last night and an experience my friends and I will never forget. There are very few top chefs and restaurants who could get anywhere close to the quality of ingredients, flavours and presentation of the food Gabriel produces and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Also extremely brave to let 15 hen party ladies (with some of us of a certain age!!) into his home.
Thank you for an amazing experience and evening.
I went for the autumnal 10-course tasting menu with for my partner’s birthday yesterday and we had a great time. Everyone was really friendly, warm and knowledgable. The decorations/cutlery/custom ceramic plates and dried flowers created a nice ambience and the open, home-like kitchen felt as if we could relax and settle in more compared to other tasting menus we’ve done. In a very good way, it was like being in a really nice house rather than a super upscale restaurant.
All the food was incredible and very much upscale. We loved that there was a non-alcoholic drinks pairing and appreciated their sustainable approach. My partner is vegetarian and he said that the vegetarian options were the best he’s had at a tasting menu. Such a delicious and really lovely experience - will definitely be back to try other menus!
This is one of our favour places to eat. We've been going to The Water House Project since it's early days when it was benches and long tables in a tile factory. The new location is a big open space with where you feel in the heart of the kitchen. Gabriel and his team work in full view of the dinning tables and the service is amazing.
I'll usually have the normal tasting menu which changes every season and my wife has the vegetarian version.
The food is always delicious and inventive. They use in season produce and take the time to explain each dish to each table.
Option for wine or non-alcoholic drinks is available. if you opt for the non-alcoholic drinks you'll get to try flavours you've never though of putting in a glass before.
Never had a bad meal and always felt looked after by every member of staff.
We'll be back for our next celebration dinner.

Amazing experience, think this is our favourite restaurant in London now. Each dish was so well put together in terms of taste, texture, the presentation. Wine pairings worked really well too! Can’t wait to be back for the summer menu
Edit: went again for the autumn menu, and just as amazing as we remembered!
This is one of the best meals I've ever had. Every dish was spectacular. Usually with these long tasting menus they forget about dessert but Gabriel delivered 3 incredibly balanced desserts. Im not a dessert person but i wish I could come and eat those desserts again! The wine was free-flowing and this was just all round a great experience!
Really surprised by how much I loved this place. The staff were fantastic, always trying to go the extra mile. As an example, they saw I had a water bottle, asked if I'd like it filled up and kept cool in the fridge. Then bought it out without any questioning when we asked for the bill. Amazing!
I had the veggie set menu, and it really blew me away from the first taste. The mushroom and truffle flavours are devine.
The star of the show for me was the honeycomb and sweetcorn "pre desert", like nothing I've ever had, blew me away.
Both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks pairings were great. The non alcoholic ones were fascinating concoctions, with complex and delightful flavours. You don't miss out not drinking here.
Highly recommended.
We ate here for my boyfriend's birthday lunch and couldn't be happier with the experience. The restaurant is beautiful with tons of natural light, stylish furniture and beautiful details like the dried flowers, ceramics and silverware. The food was absolutely lovely with well balanced flavours and textures, creative without being pretentious. The front of house staff took great care explaining the different components of the dishes, as well as the drink pairings. One person in our group had the non-alcoholic drink pairing and she was served super interesting sparkling drinks and a savoury tea. We had a great time and I'd love to come back and try next season's menu. Until then I'll be dreaming of the treacle financiers.
Wow I got taken here for a birthday dinner and it was fantastic. We had gone to a famous michelin starred restaurant last year and I personally was underwhelmed. This however really felt special and unique. Small courses but left feeling full. Very unique wine pairings. Go if you like being adventurous. nice relaxing atmosphere. Lovely talking to the head chef. A great almost 'chefs table' experience.
Sensational. An outstanding meal from start to finish. An incredibly theatrical experience but not in a pompous way. Staff are extremely knowledgeable about the dishes and their provenance but also highly personable. Every single course was a delight. I had a peak at the sample menu online before coming but the meal was so much more than the paired down descriptions. 10/10 would recommend, thank you for a fantastic early birthday dinner!
The Water House Project is a food experience you cannot miss. Located in the heart of Hackney, it’s a hidden gem. They offer a set tasting menu with wine pairing. Since you enter through the door, the theatrical world of food art commence. Really friendly staff, bringing every single dish one by one to your table, taking their time to explain the story of each one and allowing you to taste and enjoy it. They also talk about the chosen wine. I must say the pairing was on point. Quality products. The restaurant environment is also another experience. Open kitchen, so you are able to see how the art is done. Delicious and tasty journey. And they change the menu every three month! Enjoy!
Easily one of the most special and memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would eat here again (and again!) in a heartbeat!
The food was so beautiful, not only in the taste but also the presentation, the curation of the wine pairing was exceptional and the atmosphere felt so unique. Everyone who served us was so warm and friendly. I can’t wait to go back soon and would not hesitate to recommend. It’s truly such a wonderful spot!
