Simply excellent!
I'm a big curry fan and consider myself to be a bit of a connoisseur. Since moving London a few years ago, I've been disappointed not to find an outstanding Indian restaurant or takeaway, but finally my search is over!
I'm vegetarian and find veggie curries often lack flavour. Not here!
Each curry I ordered (dhansak, balti, and Tarka Dhal) had a distinct flavour, authentic and delicious. They were all freshly cooked, piping hot, packed full of fresh veg, and the portions were extremely generous.
I'm also gluten-free, and the staff couldn't have more friendly or helpful in finding dishes to suit me.
On top of all that, it was such great value, and I noticed the restaurant has a 5 rating for hygiene too.
It's just fabulous!
I only wish I'd tried them before - HIGHLY recommended.

Miss the restaurant, the staff and the welcome, but the quality hasn't changed in over 25 years that we have been enjoying the service. The best Indian food in South London, nothing comes close.

Just had a delivery from Sitar. Food arrived half an hour early and piping hot. Absolutely lovely - the best garlic Naan bread ever and all our curries very tasty. Worked out about £15 a head for curry, rice, bread and poppadoms so very reasonable as well.

Ordered from this delightful place this evening, they do the best curries in Croydon/Norwood and I would even go as far to say, all of London!
They never let me down, the orders are always generous and arrive hot and the delivery driver is so friendly. Food always delivered with a smile :)

My partner and I adore this place. We have ordered from them a few times now and the food is so tasty!! Great sized portions and good prices as well as quality food. Very rare you get that combination. They are very good for vegans too as the gentleman on the phone knew exactly what dishes were suitable. Quick service as well though the food is totally worth waiting for! Give them a go you won't regret it.

The food at Sitar is of very high quality. Always tastes delicious and delivers very generous portions. The owners are very lovely and we always have a very friendly service when our food is delivered. Today we even had our order 20 minutes earlier than expected which was great ! We will continue to order from Sitar and would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Best Indian food I ever eat in UK. Have my recommendation. I purchased food twice (home delivery), It's not expensive but SO TASTY. So far, best Indian restaurant in London than I ate from. Oh, and the selection of food is overwhelming, so better brace yourself.

I'm so glad I didn't give credit to the negative reviews here and I ordered home delivery food from Sitar; definitely as good as Indian food gets, generous portions of yummy tasteful food cooked like grandma would, also easy to digest, sign that they use good ingredients and they pay attention in preparing their meals. Sitar definitely stands out from the multitude of uninviting takeaways that seems to proliferate in Portland Road; I'm planning to order food regularly from them making it our family weekly treat, big thumb up :-)
