Great pub!! Possibly the best in Stoke Newington. Certainly my favourite. Food is delicious, staff are friendly and it looks beautiful inside. The only issue I have is that the craft beer is always the same.

Is it a Sunday? Are you hungry? Unless the answer to these questions is no, get your ass to the Three Crowns for the best roast in town, no questions asked. Prep your taste buds coz they're about to be dazzled.

Great pub on the corner of Stoke Newington High Street and Church Street. A good range of seating, you can choose between a standard dining table or the sofas in the corner at the back of the pub. Big bar so service is always quick and has also always been friendly.

I've tried the roast here several times and it never fails to disappoint. Absolutely enormous portions which I can never finish but everyone else seems happy with!

Large room with a nice vibe but expensive and a predictable menu.. The Sunday lunch is ok but could be more seasonal. The staff are pretty laid back and relaxed. All in all a good gastro pub but with illusions of being a restaurant.

My only complaint is with the horseradish they serve. I like my horseradish HOT and unfortunately their creme fraiche with freshly grated horseradish doesn't quite hit the spot. Aside from this, it's a reliable option for a tasty Sunday lunch. The service is always speedy and friendly, they were playing some great fifties tunes and they have a few sofas you can lounge on post-roast if you're in the mood.

I moved to the Clapton/Stoke Newington area from Hackney/London Fields last September and it didn't take me long to find a new favourite local. Whilst it's not as awesome as the best pub in the world (The Duke of Cumberland in Sussex), it's a great place for whiling away a few too many hours and pints at the weekend. Think mismatched tables and chairs, shabby sofas, the occasional dog and a brilliant residency in the Cornish Grill. Rustling daily deliveries of fresh seafood and meat into simple yet moreish British dishes, this pop-up (which started off as suppliers to places like The Ledbury, The Clove Club and Pitt Cue) keeps me coming back for more.

S and I found ourselves ensconced in one of the many comfy leather sofas the other day and were aching for food so, naturally, we gave in and gorged. We shared pork crackling with thyme and apple sauce (big wedges of crispy crispy pig skin), potato crackling with smoked chilli mayo (more like potato skins but perfect for scooping the creamy condiment and grilled coleslaw (creamy with a bit of bite and smoke).

We then dove into the hog's pudding scotch egg with Cornish ale brown sauce; awarded the best in the UK, this had some serious living up to do - happily, it was dense and meaty (almost haggisy?) with the perfect yolk and a rich sauce to mop up every last bite. The house cured salmon with toasted rye bread and pickles was divine - thick rather than anaemic slabs of fish were lightly smoked with a flavour that was both smooth and deep. Finally we had goats cheese fritters - light bites of fried cheese matched with a honey dressing and candy striped beetroot - and I declared myself done.

The Cornish Grill serves larger plates for those on a mission, daily specials and enormous Sunday roasts for when that Bloody Mary just won't do. With it being a 10 minute walk from my house, I'm practically a resident - I'll even fight you for that corner sofa, just you watch.

Can't say anything about their normal food but The Cornish Grill has just set up residency there and the food is fabulous.  It's all high quality ingredients extremely well executed in simple dishes.

Highlights:
Cauliflower tempura with turmeric mayonnaise
Incredibly crisp and crunchy with the loveliest of mayos which was light and earthy from the turmeric.

The award-winning Scotch egg was crispy on the outside with a beautifully runny yolk, and with the addition of hog's pudding and God knows what else, it was smoky and salty and just a blast of flavor

As Christmas was fast approaching, we thought it would be nice to go for a nice meal (well, nice but not too pricey) with some of our close friends. We had been considering the Princess of Shoreditch, at which I had eaten before, but our friend suggested the Three Crowns instead. I had already done some investigating of the Three Crowns when trying to find somewhere to go for my boyfriend's birthday. It is owned by the same people who own the Social in King's Cross which I quite like, and below there is a club which is on my list called The Drop. I had subsequently put the Three Crowns on my list so I was more than happy to go. I had said to Stephen that the next time we went out, we should go to Church Street in Stoke Newington, which is where this is. That's the downside of the place and why we'd decided against it for his birthday - for most people Stokey feels too far out (and not in the Sixties sense). But it's not too hard to get to from Mile End.

The pub is great. We only had one drink before sitting down to eat, but I really liked the feel of it. There was quite a young crowd (well, young but not teens) and even a couple of children, but I won't hold that against them. I could easily imagine coming back for a few drinks. The meal, on the other hand, was a little disappointing. The menu sounded pretty good, but it didn't really deliver on it's potential. It was perfectly edible, just nothing spectacular. I started with a salad consisting of some of my fabourite vegetables - courgettes, sweet potato, butternut squash and halloumi. That was great. And then I had the duck which came with mashed potato, some wilted greens (spinach) and a berry jus. The jus was pretty good actually - nice and sweet and a good amount. The mashed potato was weirdly dry (I didn't realise you could get mash wrong), and the duck was inconsistent - some bits were just right, others were overcooked. So, nothing to really turn your nose up at, but I wouldn't go back for the food.

Classic Victorian pub with excellent Sunday roast and beautiful interiors. I can’t give 5 stars for several reasons though: We waited at the table for around 15 minutes and only were attended when trying to order at the bar. Also, we ordered some croquettes with blue cheese sauce, but there was sauce to barely cover the bottom of the sauce cup (the croquettes were totally worth it anyway). Finally, I ordered a Bloody Mary and came without celery or any salt/pepper around the rim, while others I saw around had sal/pepper 🤷🏻‍♂️. They added 12.5% service charge anyway though, which I think as a general practice is not fair.

Went today for a Sunday roast for a birthday celebration, the service was impeccable - speedy & attentive and made us feel like the only table in the room (we were served by a younger black girl) and the food was off the chain!! We may have over ordered slightly through sheer hunger but struggled through cause it was so so good! Thanks so much for making these birthday celebrations so special and looking after us from start to finish. Will definitely be back!

What a good visit, nice helpful barman went the extra mile for me fetching an ale from the cellar so that I could try. Duo of keyboard and a double bass entertaining on a Saturday afternoon I would visit again .

Huge meal! A lovely roast chicken served with all the right veggies. It's on the corner of Church Street and The High Street with a car park round the corner. Large, modern with comfy vintage furnishings. My mum reminisced how parts of it used to be a building merchants she patronised in the 80s. Good, pleasant service, we were checked on about 3-4 times.

I shall say it loud because I can't be gentle about these things. this pub serves the BEST Sunday roast ever. and I have eaten a silly amount of Sunday roast in my life. the roasts in this place are simply amazing. if you like your roast, this is the place. it also has a REAL table footbal in there. bring your corck balls if you don't like plastic.

Becoming one of our regulars again. They’ve updated the menu since we last tried and we think it’s an improvement from when they originally refurb’d. Nice vibe in the week, and also for Sunday lunch. Very dog friendly. Food mostly good pub faire - not quite 5*, but coupled with the venue, it’s now back on our list as a regular.

Stopped in here for a drink or two before a show last weekend and was very impressed - helpful staff, good prices per pint and it was busy without ever feeling overcrowded. Wish I'd got in earlier so I could have tried the food!
