Ever heard of a Danish Sushi Chef?
Or even better, an award winning female Danish Sushi Chef?
I thought not! Well Silla Bjerrum is both, and she runs the incredible Feng Sushi restaurants situated all over London including Borough Market, Royal Festival Hall and Kensington.
Sitting in the working delivery kitchen of her Billingsgate’s branch, fresh fish everywhere, and with Silla being one of the best Sushi chefs around, this was surely going to be a night to remember.
Having never really tried sushi before, trying what was put in front of me was not only exciting, but a huge learning curve for my taste buds. And those taste buds were more than impressed! Cuttlefish battered sided with a spicy dip, organic Tofu in Miso dressing, Mackerel salad with Edamame, and Crab Meat Donduri to name a few of the ten courses that graced the table, and all plates were returned empty.
The best bit about the incredible tastes my mouth was experiencing was that the ingredients are all locally sourced. Having had the fish purchased from sustainable sellers in the fish market that morning, all of the produce was coming from Cornwall, Devon and Scotland. Even the Tofu was handmade in Brick Lane! There really isn’t a thing you could complain about as the Sustainable City award looms over us from its pride of place on the shelf for everyone to see.
If you’re a sushi fan, or have been toying with the idea of trying it, then give Feng Sushi some of your time, and you will most certainly not be disappointed. In fact you will enjoy it so much you will want to make use of their delivery service for when you’re working hard at the office, I know I will be!
Went there on a weekend . Had a platter of mixed sushi and was not disappointed . The variety of beer available there are good too. Had a taste of veg sushi too. The mixture of avocados and other herbs really gave competition to the non veg based sushi. sitting arrangements are good with limited seats and a cozy ambience.
I usually associate the London Bridge area with the hordes that visit the food stalls on the weekend only but a visit to Borough Market one wet Saturday evening shows that the crowds haven’t dissipated. The interior is dark and atmospheric and looks warming on a cold winter’s eve. There’s a seasonal menu at play and while we’ve largely ordered from the main, we are tempted by the sesame tofu with mushroom sauce and it is fantastic. I would have appreciated some advice on how to eat it as we are confused by whether to use the sauce as a dip or a soup to soak the tofu in. The tofu is crunchy on the outside and firm on the inside and the sauce is more of a broth with mushrooms and mixed vegetables but nevertheless a tasty accompaniment. Our salmon sashimi is fresh, but does have some significant fatty stripes through it.
A more ideal and definitely earth-bound sushi bar is Feng Sushi, a divine little chain of sushi restaurants with a great sustainability program to boot (because guys, as much as you want to ignore it, you know that green is the new black). We had lunch th
Food: Sushi
Price: around £ 30 for two people
Atmosphere: Busy, Quick
Review : Great little sushi in London bridge near the main street , which makes it very easy to find.
In the restaurant there are several types of menus vegetarian and gluten free, which is quite nice to note.
When I went there , I ordered the miso soup, the Salmon Spring Rolls to start, concerning the main course, I opted for their pre-made box: 8 Piece Salmon and a Japanese Bento.
I think their prices are reasonable enough for the quantity and quality of their sushis. This place is very quick and you can also take your order with a take away or delivery option with a minimum spend of £ 15 for delivery.
I usually associate the London Bridge area with the hordes that visit the food stalls on the weekend only but a visit to Borough Market one wet Saturday evening shows that the crowds haven't dissipated. My original plan of a visit to Brindisa is blown out the water (I'm far too hungry to wait for a table) and so we wander down to Feng Sushi.

There's a seasonal menu at play and while we've largely ordered from the main, we are tempted by the sesame tofu with mushroom sauce and it is fantastic.
It's a bit off putting.
We've also got a mixed platter with salmon & tuna sashimi, salmon & tuna nigiri, mock duck in pancakes and vege tempura. Nothing out of the ordinary.
We also had a soft shell crab roll, which again was only average. The crab was cold and clearly straight from the fridge and while it was assembled neatly, there was no aromatic flavours of the crab coming through.
We ended the meal with a couple of scoops of ice cream - chocolate with wasabi and black sesame. The wasabi overpowered the senses in the chocolate ice cream (as wasabi does) but the black sesame ice cream was sensational.
Overall, I liked the food, but Feng Sushi commands a premium over the other sushi chains that I felt was undeserved. Itsu or Wasabi both do excellent and fresh sushi and sashimi at a lower price (if not quite the same ambience) and we left feeling a little unsatisfied. Perhaps I should have waited for my table of tapas after all.
Ok place, nice and decent service.
Decor of the restaurant isn't great and certainly does not relate to a Japanese style restaurant. Overall food was nice but not something that you will remember for long time. Food arrived very quickly. Cant fault the service either. I'd highly recommend crispy squid. It tasted very nice. I used TasteCard so I got 50% off the bill so ill be going there again.
You know what? I like this place. The seafood is always fresh ... it's got a strangely homely feel (might be the worn, tacky interior... YES exotic fish aquarium). The waitresses and chefs seem to very much care about you and your meal. The food IS GOOD 🍣... but for the money... it's just not that classy-a-sushi joint. I'll keep coming here (it's round the corner from my work and decent London sushi is hard to find) but it's no fine dining experience. It's not really authentic... I just like it. The people are cool... the chefs make an effort and the vibe is chill. Never ordered something I regrettted. I would recommend the nigri selection, a miso soup, a pint of a Asahi and some tempura prawns. You won't be sorry 🍤🍤
I ordered on my birthday and they added a small bottle of Prosecco and even wrote happy birthday on the bag :) Loved how friendly the delivery guy was and the staff must be equally as nice. Sushi was amazing and will definitely be ordering from them again!
Not too bad for London, but the Ramen wasn't authentic Japanese style. No bamboo shoots, corn or seaweed in it, but some type of lettuce.
One of my favourite Japanese restaurants. You should go there, but first of all- make a reservation! Their sushi rolls are tasty and the prices are normal.
The cooked spinach rolls are delicious with their sweet sesame dressing. The last time they were about £5 and I have to admit that this deal was great.
When Feng Sushi came to borough market it was a god send for the area and I always appreciate every visit. If I pass by and do not go in and eat there I actually feel guilty. Their food is great, even though it may not be the most glamorous, I think it is a great bolt hole for a bit of sushi and a change from the kaiten type restaurant. Highly recommended.
Their sushi is delicious. Go there and enjoy the nice interior and atmosphere. I like sushi, I enjoy it for special occasions or for calm quiet dinners at home. The rice is the most important thing in the sushi rolls. A day ago, I watched a TV show, where a sushi master was presenting his skills. His devotion and creativity were amazing.
Feng Sushi is the place to go for good sushi in London. This is the second Feng Sushi I've tried (along with the one in Camden) and the food is always amazing. Average price is around £20-30 per head. Service is always available and friendly. Only downside may be that some tables towards the back are tightly packed, but not so much to deter from the experience. Would definitely recommend it #PerfectDayLDN
I must confess I've only had takeaway from here, but it's one of the few takeaways that leaves you feeling healthier after eating it! Everything is attractively presented, and although the sushi's the star there's plenty more to be had - salads are a must, even if only for the addictive dressings! Be sure to order the delightful pickled vegetables - the size of the serving is extremely generous.
Excellent Vegan options! I love in Tokyo and even though it's a chain Feng Sushi has great choice and quality. Always check which items are vegan though as some seem like they would be but aren't.
