We ordered online from Cafe Coco for delivery. Decent Vietnamese.

One of our party had a throat infection so just wanted something soft, easy to swallow, non-acidic and non-spicy. He got fried rice noodles with chicken which he found tasty.

The other two of us ordered a bunch of dishes to share. A plain green papaya salad, a green mango salad with prawns, grilled lamb cutlets, and stir fried chicken with aubergine.

Of the salads we both preferred the mango salad, which was actually half mango and half papaya. Still it was more fragrant than the papaya alone. Very refreshing, being lightly dressed with a sprinkle of crushed peanuts. The lamb cutlets were superb. Quite charred and with a very flavorful herbal marinade. I probably wouldn't order the chicken and aubergine stir fry again, because I found it a bit bland. It could have done with more garlic and more seasoning. We were also delivered some complimentary prawn crackers, probably for scooping up the salads.

We forgot to order rice, so made a batch at home while we waited for food to arrive. Our generous order for three people came to £36, excluding rice and a tip for the delivery guy.

Café Coco menu is filled with a mix of Vietnamese and other Asian dishes such as Chinese and Japanese.

I went on to order the crispy half-moon pancake. A massive portion of greens, and pancake arrived folded in half. Inside stuffed with bean sprouts, chicken chunks and prawns. This Banh Xeo had to be one of the best I’ve tried in London.

I couldn’t steer away from my favourite bun thit nuong cha nem, the char grilled meat, still had juices dripping, slicked with lemongrass and other herbs used to be marinated the meat. Meat nice and firm and chewy, it was as good as Café Sen sadly now closed.

Cafe Coco is one of those places that only opens in the evenings after 5pm with the exception of Sunday. Located in Mare Street, in the heart of biggest community it has a lot of competition in the area. As you know, Mare Street is one big stretch of a long road, I had a long wait until my friends arrived, so went on to order the crispy half-moon pancake.
