Pleasant cafe in the crypt underneath St John’s Smith Square. Very reasonable prices, and pleasant surroundings in the below-ground crypt.

I made a quick visit to the Footstool Cafe (17/03/23 @1250) before a meeting. When entering, you are welcomed by a warm and homely ambience with the sounds of music playing from the stage upstairs.

Really nice quiet atmosphere, doesn't seem to be a tourist hotspot (not sure why, it's lovely) so it's a nice escape from the busy streets. Food is good and cheap!
Nice environment and good service. Slow cooked beef cheek superb, very tender. Apple and rhubarb crumble had an aniseed taste but very nice. Prices are reasonable for that part of London. Given its proximity to parliament it is quite discreet and out of the way of crowds.

Lovely atmosphere and good food. Portions a bit off... Tiny main but huge dessert. I'd still recommend though
