By far the best place in the area for a coffee. The menu is simple, nothing complicated but personifies quality over quantity. You can also purchase the beans they use to make the coffee which I would recommend! The shop is simple but very easy on the eye and the guys who work there are very friendly! (Also the banana bread is great)
If you’re looking for a coffee and you’re in the area look no further!
Great coffee, high quality product. Note it is takeaway only (or is at the time of writing, Sept 23)
Just wanna say thank you to the barista who so kindly gifted me a cutting of one of the shop's plants when she caught me admiring it, and to let you know that baby Lila is alive and thriving!
One of the best espressos I've had in London, great service. They show a real passion for coffee. If you love coffee you can't go wrong with this place.
Very lovely place, friendly owner and fantastic tasty coffee, for a reasonable price.
And I get really angry reading some of the low reviews here, since he clearly makes an effort to offer high quality coffee:
Firstly, if you have ever been to Italy, the coffee country, you will notice that they also won’t serve cappuccino after a certain time. If he does not offer it, it’s completely up to him how to design his „menu“.
Secondly, if you expect your special coffee preparation requests to be fulfilled, this is probably not the place for you. Saying „he has milk and coffee so he should be able to prepare something that’s not on his menu“ is the same as saying „this restaurant has all ingredients for a dish not on the menu, why do they don’t want to cook this for me upon request?“
If you are not happy with the choices, simply choose another place.
I was super happy and can fully recommend. Try to be open and learn something about coffee from an owner who clearly knows a lot about it.

Yes rumours are true, this is the best coffee shop in London. The owner’s exceptional attention to detail in curating his shop, and his care with the great powers of coffee is what has earned Dark Habit cult status. Thank you! Drinking this craft is a privilege! It doesn’t matter what type of milk you have or how it’s foamed when the groundwork is this good. Honorary mention to Round Hill for the roast. It’s worth waiting for the V60 at this place, unlike elsewhere in the neighbourhood…
Delicious coffee served, and also sold as beans and ground. The place as a weird layout with a big distance between counter and customer (a good meter like by covid guidelines) but that distance is also felt in the general snobism of the staff. I always felt unwelcome here, shame as it's on my doorstep.
Been a regular for years and is hands down one of the best coffees in London. Always pleasant and friendly whilst incredibly knowledgeable about what they are making.
Dark Habit is a total landmark in Queen’s Park. The coffee is ace, nicely priced and the wine selection is an added bonus.
I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my flat white fix!
One of the best coffees I’ve had in London, so sad to hear you are temporarily closed! Hurry back!
