My brother took me here for lunch while in London. Great to experience some traditional east London culture and a classic Cockney dish. The staff were very friendly too.

It was my partner’s dream to come here after watching their video on vice food. We were both very excited to give the pie and mash a try, having never trying mash and pie together. Great tasting pie and sauce. The whole combination was delicious. We really wanted to meet Mr Cooke, however he was not in that day. Hopefully we can return one day and meet him. This restaurant is further away from the central area, but definitely worth visiting.

Old school London experience. Great food and atmosphere. Queue up or grab a seat and the kind lady will shout out when ready if it’s busy. They do one thing and do it well. Pay on exit. Nothing else needed! Make sure you distinguish between “2 pie and mash” and “pie and mash twice” because some people like eating 2 pies to themselves!

Had a great experience here, with Charlotte being an amazing host. As it was my first time to London, I wanted to visit F Cooke after seeing it on YouTube. The store was quiet as I came in right after it opened, so Charlotte sat down with me while I ate and shared the history of the restaurant and the area. It was a great conversation The food was simple and very tasty. I got a pie and mash & jellied eels and finished it all along with a coffee. What a great experience! I’ll be back someday!

I’d been meaning to get to a pie and mash shop in London and real authentic taste of London. After doing some research at New Southgate Cemetery around 16:15, I realised that this place shuts at 17:00 and faced a mad dash for pie and mash. I wasn’t disappointed, arrived about 16:30, there were two people in there but one person I believed may have been the owner. I ordered large pie and mash with liqueur, not knowing what ‘liqueur’ was, but ordering it anyway. Quite simply, it was lovely, I’m not a big mash fan but it was beautifully done and the pie was so tasty, combined with the liqueur sauce it was a hearty and fulfilling meal. I even went as far as sending photos to my mate and Mum. The mate who claims to be a Londoner, had know idea what it was, so clearly not a real Londoner ! Pleasant atmosphere listening to the lady behind the counter and chap, who I may have believed to be the owner, talking shop and conversing back and forth with cockney accents that you could have rolled up and beaten someone over the head with. I only spent half an hour but if I’m ever down that way I’d like to return and definitely recommend. As I left and said goodbye the chap said, “See you later son, mind how you go”, which tickled me. It’s the London I’ve always wanted to experience and a perfect end to a day and well worth a mad dash from New Southgate Cemetery !

Went here after a big night out and was delighted with the food. Am vegan and the vegan pie mash didn't disappoint. Beautifully topped off with liquor and tasted incredible. My friend had double meat pie and loved it as well. Will definitely be back again. Only cost me £6 for the pie mash and a Coke zero
