The Fox is a great pub in Haggerston with a very strong craft beer focus. Ten draught taps and eight hand pumps feature a selection of local and international craft beers covering all kinds of styles.

A cosy and well attended Pub just by Columbia Road .
Go during the week or on Sundays after a walk along the Columbia Flower Market
Go for a Pint and if your hungry, don't be afraid to ask for their delicious pies (there's one for the veggies too)
Good and nice service from the bar
Notes .
From Monday to Wednesday you've got "Pie O'clock" from 8,90£ (pint+pie)
Serious rebranding after being taken over by the Draft House group.
The last time I was at the Birdcage it was still a proper East End boozer populated by old men and a couple having a loud drunken argument. That's all gone now, along with the grim carpet. Families and bearded young men were chowing down on pie and mash with mushy peas. It still has a traditional feel about it.
Food is rudimentary here. We shared the Levantine platter of hummous, tzaziki, baba ghanoush, turkish pickled peppers and flat bread. Perfectly fine but nothing to write home about. Except the discovery of serving hummous with a good dose of harissa on top. That is how I will be eating hummous from now on.
Brewdog, Craft Beer Co. and The Draft House are responsible for 15 of the best places to drink beer in London, and all three "chains" deserve credit for making each site a unique watering hole.
The latest to join the team is The Draft House's refurbishment of Columbia Road classic, The Birdcage. It was on the brink of bankruptcy after a long period of decline, but now it is back in business.
Whilst it's clearly part of The Draft House canon, The Birdcage has retained some of its East End charms, such as live music evenings and Square Pie Co pies with Mash & Liquor. If you aren't familiar with liquor, it is a white sauce with chopped parsley and a dash of pale ale (rather than the traditional eel juice!). My chicken and bacon was a fine example of the genre.
As for the drinks, the draught & bottled beer list is predictably strong. Lagunitas Maximus IPA, Redchurch Great Eastern IPA and Siren When The Light "Gose" Out were all on good form when we visited.
But the beers have got fierce competition from pre-bottled cocktails served from the optics for only £5 a go. Max Chater from Bump Caves (the experimental bar beneath Draft House Tower Bridge) is the man responsible for ready-to-go Sazeracs, Negronis (with their own "Victory Gin") and Treacles (Raisin Infused Diplomatico Anejo, Bump Bitters, Apple) which the barstaff can dish out at high speed.
And if you need something a bit punchier, try one of their special "Bumps", quirky spirits created on the Bump Caves rotovap to pair with particular beers. We sampled a delicious ~40% distilled Christmas Pudding on our way out.
Pies, beers and booze - what more do you need? The Birdcage is a wonderful local, but also worth going out of the way for. Another winner for The Draft House & Bump Caves team.
Very chill cozy pub with plenty of drink and food options. They have 2-4-1 specials in the evenings (£12 for both cocktails when you order two of the same kind).
There’s a terrace so makes it for a lovely spot on sunny or warmer days. We tried multiple cocktails and couldn’t point just one as a recommendation, they all were pretty great to be part of an offer, so I’d recommend for some drinks and snacks!
Best pub I have ever been to.
Went to the pub around 4pm. They have a happy hour too.
Arnus, the bartender is really friendly and has a good knowledge about cocktails. Suggested me excellent cocktails. Probably the best and the friendliest pub I have ever been too.
Keep it up folks!
Really lovely crew, and delicious burger! The waiters are super friendly 🙏🏻
A lovely "hello" as we walked in, and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Had dinner for 4, the food was really good, but the portions could have been slightly more generous.Great value for money though.
Service faultless, and the atmosphere fabulous. We all really enjoyed ourselves.

❤️ A Brewdog pub on historic Columbia Road.
.
The Birdcage is located on Columbia Road and is perched at the end of a picturesque row of Victorian shops. This road is famous for the Sunday flower market which is definitely worth a visit. Getting here is easy, Hoxton overground station is just a five minute walk away.
.
This pub is very easy on the eye, the beautiful glazed emerald green tiles add a touch of Victorian glamour to this building.
.
The bar area is laid out in and L shape and the pub does feels quite spacious. The tall windows bathe this pub in light making the ambience bright and airy. The elegant servery is clad in solid wood, the columns are a nice feature but slightly hinder being served. At the back left side is a traditional fireplace with an old Joanna to the right.
.
This is a Brewdog pub so the beer choice is full of their in house brews on draft, in cans and bottles. I had a pint of Lost Lager which I’ve had before, it’s an ok pint but expensive considering its an own brand brew. If you’re hungry there is a full menu of pub classics, wings, burgers and roasts are available on a Sunday. Fish and Chips costs £15 which is average price for London.
.
I arrived around 3pm on a Saturday and it was fairly busy and there was a nice buzz around the place. If you’re visiting the flower market on a Sunday be warned it can get absolutely rammed in here.
.
The Birdcage is undoubtedly a very attractive pub and will appeal to a younger audience. The price point makes this an expensive place to have a pint. Worth a visit as part of a crawl of the area.

Nice pub which is always busy on a Sunday especially if it's sunny! They let you sit outside with plastic cups but there aren't loads of places to sit (they're happy for you to sit on the floor). Think probably more of a council issue than the pub. Drinks are reasonable for London during their happy hours
Lovely location in Shoreditch area. Another bar now owned by Brewdog so good selection of beers and food. Outdoor seating too.
Wonderful and friendly staff. So welcoming. Food was amazing. Not 5 stars because of cracked teapot and dirty milk jug (custard?). Shortage of crockery?
Staff was helpful and efficient - and very polite! Food was fresh and tasty and I always enjoy a good Brewdog craft beer. Also the location is very handy, two steps away from the columbia road flower market. I'd definitely come back when I'm around!
Chloe was amazing!! On an extremely busy night, she, Callum and Kobi juggled multiple customers and did it all with a smile and at a tremendous pace! Will definitely be coming back, thanks entirely to Chloe (though the great food and drinks help too). Thank you for your hard work Chloe!!
