Had Sunday buffet here twice. Really lovely food, was impressed, though vegetarian options could be better. No paneer in the buffet, though you can order it from the menu. Loved the fish bhuna and the tandoori chicken especially. Delicious ice-cream. Lassi and Irish coffee excellent. Buffet good value so long as you're not vegetarian.

In the past 20 years, I don't think I've ever been there other than on Sunday for their buffet, but of the 3 remaining Indians that still offer a buffet, this one has always been our favourite. Dulwich Tandoori for a while was, but it's gone downhill in the past 5 years IMHO so Surma is back on top. I've yet to try Generally uniform food from the main serving trays. The vegetarian options often look like they need a good refresh and can be swimming in oil, but for the 8 quid, it's a fun night out when you're in the mood to gorge. I've yet to try Memsaab, the newest place, but I hear it's also good

Great meal. Food, as always, was first class. Salmon tikka starter followed by butter chicken tandoori for me and paneer tikka massala for the wife. Cool cobra or white wine to wash it down. Heaven
