Best curry on Brick Lane - I mean the BEST>>>>not just good - the BEST - and best means good. I entertain clients in smarter places around E London and the city but when I am with buddies or clients I know well I take them to Al Badar - insist they stay (temptation is to leave this rather ordinary looking 'cafe' on arrival - o maybe oil the wheels a little with a pint of Doombar at The Pride of Spitalfields). Then bang - naans too hot to handle - saag panner to set your mouth tingling, tarka dhal to chase the cold away and chicken curry to fill the empty space left by the previous evenings beery bantering. All for a fiver. Heaven on the corner of Fashion Street. Just do it...........

@albadar.takeaway 📍 Bricklane WHAT BADMAN GOT 👇🏾 1 Piece Chicken 3 Wings & Chips VENUE Been about for over 20yrs this spot is a gem get that authentic taste and vibes the seating is abit tight but well worth the visit. FOOD The food here is nothing wow but authentic and distinctive and most of all cheap and affordable. from the curry to the fried chicken all worth a try trust me. here you catch all them city slickers in here in the afternoon munching curry 😂. OVERALL I enjoy my visit here all the time and recommend others to check it out. same people run this place too. #londonfood#bricklane#food#halal#foodblogger

Good to see the same owners running the business for 15 years +. I always come to this place for a quick bite whenever I'm in Brick Lane! Ideal for quick meals from set menu, they also serve Indian curries & rice/naan etc. Price is reasonably set as well. Does get abit busy during peak times.

Can't beat a classic like Al Badar. It's been there for decades ! I used to go here we a kid 🤣 it's stuck ok the 90s. The food here is cheap as chips. Quality is ok and great sauces. Place needs a much needed refurb. But can't fault it. Cheap thrills

After a long travel and getting to the Premier Inn opposite, this was perfect for a quick late-night bite. It's pretty basic, more of a fish n chip shop with kebabs that also offers a variety of curries. It's no way a restaurant - it's cash-only, has no beer nor wifi - but offers a few tables and chairs at the front to eat in, and there's plenty of other Asian families dining in so they must be doing something tight. The window features a series of set meals in the form of photographs with descriptions, all priced less than a fiver - which is pretty good value for curry, rice/chips, side dish and drink (just a can of pop). I ordered one of the set meals - Chicken Jal Frezie - which came quite quickly, featuring a plate of white plain pilau (no peas or onions but better than plain boiled rice) and some token salad drizzled with raita. I found the curry quite rich and pleasantly warm, not a huge quantity but sufficient for the plate of rice which soaked up the runny sauce well. Being a takeaway it's not the quietest of places - when sitting there you'll get plenty of disturbance from diners popping in to grab wrapped meals - but that's what you get for a takeaway with takeaway prices that happens to offer a table to eat at, served on china plates with metal cutlery - a step up from a seat to munch out of a polystyrene box with plastic forks. I found the quality of meal (and service generally) okay - but a huge improvement over the service and meal I got from Pepe's opposite. When I'm next in the area, I'll make a point of popping back in if I'm after late-night bites.

Only had the lamb and chicken curries but they are the best in London. The taste and satisfaction is amazing. It is a cafe so don't expect fine dining. Also very good value.

A lovely Curry as always. I've been using Al Badar for 15 years since coming to work in the area. Everyone I take there loves the delicious food.

Good affordable curries. Fast, tasty, and good selection of items, I'll say their curries are much better than the fried chicken/burgers menu. Great place to get takeaway since you can get a meal much cheaper than in any other place on Brick Lane (£5 for chicken + rice + drink). Definitely recommended if you're craving some good curry for your buck. But remember to bring cash since they don't take cards!

Incredibly humble place with incredibly humble owners. Clearly a place which has been around for a long time, and for good reason. The only things missing are a good garlic sauce, a debit/credit machine, and someone to do a deep clean of the restaurant. Much respect.

Really really good food. Chicken hot wings very tasty, they have a fresh clean taste. Burger, doner taste very good aswell. Curries are really delicious would highly recommend. No disrepect but some people leaving bad reviews, totally disagree as this is not a 5* michelin restaurant, its a local fried chicken and curry shop, and they do their best to provide excellent food. They are on "just eat" and "hungryhouse" aswell which helps when im at home.
