You know how they say "Good things come in small packages"...The same applies for this cute little Kurdish cafe in Camden town which buzzes with people all the time! The good food apart, it's old world feel and the chance to play some classic board games add to the lovely experience...a great hangout spot on weekends!

My Village Cafe is probably entering my favourite places in London. The restaurant looks amazing, the staff is extremely nice and the food is delicious. Had a fantastic soup that literally made me go back in time. I just loved everything in here and I cant wait to return!

I had a busy last week as I have officially become a gym addict. I go pretty much every day and look forward to going even on Friday evenings when all normal people go out and get drunk, but not me, I went to do a yoga class followed by some weights and then hitting the sack at 10pm. I did manage to catch up with a few friends in between all of those weights, squats and core exercises but I didn’t manage to discover a new place for my next review.

So as a woman who works wonderfully well under pressure, I hopped on the bus and went down to My Village on my lunch break. As with everything in the Camden area, My Village is very hippy, laid back and full of what I would consider as clutter – but I can’t deny the fact that it also creates character with lots of random photographs, table games and books everywhere, as their ethos is to unplug from the world, unwind & reconnect with yourself and others through sharing tables, playing table games or just becoming present to how fortunate you are to eat this food as so many people in the world go without.

As you walk in you are greeted with classical/Turkish music playing in the background with plenty of energy and enthusiasm oozing from the staff and happy customers. As it was lunch, the cafe was buzzing with families, friends and couples tucking into their healthy, wholesome food and enjoying themselves.

There is plenty of healthy, colourful dishes to choose from depending on what you are fancying; maybe a halloumi wrap or a falafel meal or maybe even a grandmother’s soup… or how about a Kurdish breakfast?! If you are a vegan/vegetarian, you feel like you are in a candyshop as everything sounds and looks so delicious… and you can have it all, not just those dishes which have the magical V next to their names! They also make a variety of special hot drinks such as spiced mocha with organic milk and freshly squeezed juices, as well as organic alcoholic beverages.

As I was ordering the falafel meal with a beetroot, orange and ginger juice, the very warm and super friendly owner gave me a sample of his lentil soup as a bribe for me to bring cash next time as they really don’t like card payments there, and if that wasn’t enough he gave me a shot of spiced mocha to sweeten me up and reiterate the fact that I should must bring cash next time! (They do take card payments over £10 but they are very anti-card-payment).

The plate was bursting with colour as well as flavour; with the pleasant tastes running around on your pallet. The salad which consisted of carrot, black olives, tomatoes, radish, beans, cucumber, peas and corn (which was crunchy and fresh), topped with sauce and complimented by falafel and spinach and potato bites – my taste buds had an early Halloween party with so many textures and flavours all piled onto one fork. Not only was I hungry, it also all tasted good; but I was also conscious of the time, having only an hour for lunch, I polished off the plate and licked my lips in deep satisfaction and contentment. The portions are very generous, enough to fill up any hungry belly, but if you can’t finish your food, please don’t waste it and have it as take away as My Village don’t condone food wastage as much as they don’t like card payments, all for good reasons of course.

Before going to listen to Sam Jordan and the Dirty Harrys at Proud Camden on Wednesday, my friend Natalie and I met at My Village Cafe, a quaint Greek and Mediterranean vegetarian/vegan cafe in the heart of Camden Town across the road from the Stables. And what a charming and delightful find!
The cafe also serves as a deli offering authentic dishes and sides for eat in or take away. I sat down at one of these inviting tables and the kind and charming man at the counter offered myself and another newcomer two complimentary drinks and a sample of their "My Grandma Soup" which was delicious especially on a chilly night.
Ordering a portion of the soup for my dinner, I could not even eat it all it was so filling AND DELICIOUS. It was perfectly paired with a mug of hot green tea that the man behind the counter offered the refill but again it was such a large portion that no refill was necessary but I appreciate their desire to serve and please. I do believe he might have offered me his sweater if I was cold.
I definitely would recommend any vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike to pay My Village Cafe a visit if you're in the Camden Town/Chalk Farm neighbourhood. You'll have a hearty meal, charming ambiance and fabulous/friendly service.
###
One note of warning - they do not accept cards for anything under £10 so cash is recommended especially if you are paying individually.
Also, according to Natalie this cafe makes for a great study place and was where she spent countless hours pouring over her own dissertation.

Nice little cafe with a quirky but un-pretentious vibe. The owner/manager is a nice guy and often offers samples - the downside is that they're always so tasty that you end up getting more than intended!. Hearty and fresh veggie food on offer, as well as beers and coffee. The mocha with ginger etc. is particularly nice - I would walk through Camden Lock Market naked on a Saturday afternoon for that stuff.

One of my favourite places to go to, whether I’m alone and want to chill out or I’m with friends and want to have a thorough catch up. The team in here is so kind and friendly, ensuring you feel welcomed and comfortable every time. I love that everything is made fresh and is healthy. My favourite plate to get here is the humus and flatbread dish as well as baba ganoush (it’s the perfect texture with a beautiful hint of garlic - it’s amazing) the cocktails are gorgeous as well as the fresh juices that they offer. The interior is charmingly cosy and the garden is like a mini paradise. Everyone I have brought to this place has fallen in love with it.

Quirky vegetarian and vegan friendly cafe/restaurant very close to Camden Market. There is outdoor seating in front of the place, in the backyard, and plenty of tables inside. They have boardgames available 🎲 Service was fine (the orders have to be placed at the counter, but they bring the food to your table). The order took a while to arrive and they forgot one of the items which we had ordered. We were offered a little something to make up for the mistake and extra wait time. We had Biryani, the feta & aubergine wrap, and a halloumi wrap. While all of the items seemed fresh and were good, none of them were extraordinary or very flavourful. Rather homemade meal type of flavours ☺️ I wouldn't visit again just for the food but rather for the combination of atmosphere, music, games, and vegetarian options 👍

I've always loved this place, it's a mini oasis in the area; surviving Covid, as well as the many changes in the area. The atmosphere is unmatched. Over the years I've worked myself through the menu, nothing to fault, delicious. Last time I was in there was live music, it was so good I though it was a recording. Zen vibes! Very greatful MY VILLAGE exists, see you soon.

Stumbled upon this little gem by luck!. We aren't vegan or vegetarian but the ambience was so nice, we went in to have a drink. They had some nice cocktails at very reasonable prices, I had a matcha mojito and my friend had a cherry whiskey cocktail I think. They served us a lovely tapas plate complimentary with the drinks which was very kind. They also offered a taste of a lovely lentil soup. We weren't too hungry at that point but did a takeaway of their vine leaves main plate for later, which was also very good. Will gladly visit again.

Amazing place in Camden Town! friendly customer service and lovely atmosphere! The live music show creates a cosy experience and gives a fantastic touch when dining in. The interior is beautiful and it feels like being inside a cabin with all the wooden furniture and decor. Food is delicious and rich in veg flavours! 100% recommended!

Stumbled upon this very cozy nook in the heart of busy Camden whilst waiting for our friend. We were lucky it was still happy hour so we ordered some cocktails accompanied by pita bread and hummus. The staff was accommodating as well. The beer garden is an oasis for hot summery weather. It brings back Mediterranean vibe/memories. The interior is stunning. Cool relaxing decors and some cultural sounds surrounding the inside. Am sure it will be perfectly warm and cozy this coming winter. Definitely recommend.

A truly authentic hidden gem in London. The food is great and they often will let you try things first. The food is so tasty here you won’t miss the meat and on a cold day I can really recommend the spiced ginger mocha. Genuine, family run businesses like this are few and far between in London, so be sure to stop off here and immediately be charmed by the warm welcome and cosy interior. If you are doing a tourist day here you could visit the market and Cyber Dog over the road and then come here for lunch. Primrose bakery is also not too far or you could walk up the high street to Camden town station and just stop off wherever takes your fancy.
