Excellent venue for more interesting jazz (ie less of the easy-listening, cocktail bar-style jazz that you might find in some other venues), some of it of very high quality. There’s a very friendly, welcoming vibe. The venue is not large, I guess it will squeeze in c.100 with 60-70 or so seated. Seating is theatre style rather than sitting around tables. Arriving at or near door opening time will get you a seat. It also packs in a reasonably priced bar.

We had a great night at Vortex, with its well deserved reputation as the place to be for nonstandard / experimental jazz. Apparently the place was recently refurbished and the atmosphere is perfect - small and intimate but also dynamic and exciting with the vibe and line ups. The place pretty much nailed it with hosting the Julian Siegel Quartet. We did wish the background music wasn't switched on quite so quickly at the end, in case we could get an encore. But a perfect night out all in all!

Maybe not quite the same vibe as the original in Stoke Newington but still well worth the effort for top notch and reasonably priced jazz. Team lovely as ever and bar prices reasonable. Branden Lewis Quartet delivered a top notch set

Here I listened to the highest quality of jazz. The music is super, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. I respect and love their attitude to provide such level of music and also invite the públic to actively play and sing. Warmly recomended.

If you're looking for a cozy and intimate jazz bar that won't break the bank, Vortex is the place for you. This hidden gem in the heart of the city offers an impressive selection of talented jazz musicians, making it a must-visit spot for any jazz lover. Upon entering the bar, you'll immediately notice the warm and inviting atmosphere, with dim lighting and comfortable seating that's perfect for settling in and enjoying the music. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to make recommendations or chat about the music. One of the best things about Vortex is the variety of jazz musicians who perform there. From up-and-coming local artists to internationally renowned performers, you're sure to find something that suits your taste. The sound quality is also excellent, allowing you to fully appreciate the music without any distractions. Overall, I highly recommend Vortex to anyone looking for a cosy and affordable jazz bar with a great selection of musicians. With its intimate setting, friendly staff, and fantastic music, it's the perfect spot for a night out with friends or a romantic evening with a loved one.

Nice club in North London. A bit cramped, but the acoustics were OK. Good local vibe in the area outside with good options for casual food and drink. The drinks in Vortex were reasonably priced, but not the best. Run by volunteers, who were all passionate about the place. The main downside is the poor connections by public transport. It makes an interesting counterpoint to Ronnie Scott's, the other main Jazz venue in London.

Such a great night out tonight at Vortex, John Etheridge gtr with Ian Thomas dms and Jim Watson keys just blew us away with exquisite blues / jazz! And possibly the finest version of Little Wing ever played in there ... And the volunteer staff are to be highly commended indeed, a great venue, one of the best in London

a very unique Jazz club in Dalston. I Love it! Only little problem: you cannot pay with the credit card at the bar.
