IN EN & PT:
Went to London with a friend for the weekend, and supposedly we were going to the Food Market in Waterloo, but failed to know in advanced that it would be a Red Carpet event on that day and for that the Market was close.
Getting a bit late for our flight back home, and almost starving, we decide to go to Feng Sushi in South Bank.
The place is outstanding, with a great vibe and super nice staff.
The sushi is good, it's fresh, but being from Portugal where fish is our specialty and where are so many sushi bars, we could feel a huge difference.
It's a bit expensive for the variety of sushi and for the quantity of rolls in each portion.
I only took one picture, and I'm sorry for that.
Overall it's a pleasing place for having lunch, by the river with a calming atmosphere.
The food was great. Proper Japanese thing. The tuna was really fresh and tasty. California roll was not supposed to be like that! Had a good time there anyway.
Great customer service and the sushi was very delicious and not too pricey. I ordered the 22 piece sushi, it's the perfect portion for 2 people. Overall, very good and not too noisy.
A beautiful blue flower painted wall grabs the attention at Feng Sushi. Along with this, there are two fish tanks that contribute to the calming atmosphere. High wooden stools, tables and chairs make up the small dining area. There is some outdoor seating as well. Additional stools are placed by the bar area.
We had to try one of the seasonal dishes that were on offer and we chose the Handpicked Devon Crab Donburi which is a bowl of rice topped with crab. There was no discernible flavour in the rice, save for the few slices of pickles and no dressing of any sort, rendering this dish quite bland. It has to be said that for a casual diner – generic modern-Oriental elements including white walls, bare wooden tables and disposable chopsticks all present and correct – the menu struck me as being not only fairly expensive, but also haphazardly priced.
My absolute favourite sushi place in London. I love the laid back atmosphere and the fact that the menu is regularly updated – the crispy salmon, tuna and tamago tempura roll is one of my absolute favourites, but I strongly recommend the Californian maki and the tuna. If you love calamari, the baby squid is also delicious.
Good vegetarian options. Super yummy edamame and the desert platter is a great choice for a selection of sweet nibbles for two to share.
Went there 4 times in a month time.... Tells you how good that place is.... But I only tried sushi/sashimi/maki.... (and it's -50% with Tastecard) the only dishe I would advise to avoid is the gyoza.... Especially if you have tried proper one from Japan or the restaurant Taro (Soho)
Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Southbank and decided to give it a try. Most of their dishes have a western fusion twist to them while remaining Japanese. Their seasonal menu seemed a lot more interesting than their main menu and I ended up ordering off that and was satisfied with what I got (seafood ramen). Prices are probably a little more than what I would pay for the same type of food elsewhere, but it's probably the premium for the location and being sustainable.
Southbank is full of quite dull restaurants but Feng Sushi, with its seasonal menu and focus on sustainability, really stands out. The menu is full of dishes that I'd never even heard of - loved the salmon donburi with sticky rice and the deep-fried shrimp balls. Most mains are around the tenner mark so it's good value for central London too. If you don't mind sitting on a bench and minimalist decor then give it a go.
Service with a smile. Excellent food at very reasonable prices (and even more reasonable if you have a tastecard! - 50% off your food order!) Highly recommend the Chicken Katsu Curry, Tempura Shrimp and Chicken Gyozas. It is impossible to leave this place still feeling hungry.
I'm very fond of Feng Sushi, and wish I could justify going more often. They are a chain, but their angle emphasises seasonal food, with a lot of slightly non-traditional variants on the sushi theme.
This one has the advantage of location as well- right by the Royal Festival Hall, but slightly less likely to get filled up than a lot of the other places around here. The food comes quickly, so good for a pre-show meal.
It was fabulous. Silla’s (the owner of Feng sushi) passion for what they do really shone through and their commitment to sustainable fish is admirable. The fact that even someone as cack handed as me managed to turn out reasonable looking sushi rolls is testament to the brilliance of this class. I would definately recommend trying one of their sushi making clases and impressing the hell out of your friends with home made sushi the next time you throw a soiree! And if it all goes horribly wrong the Feng Sushi delivery service will save you, shh they’ll never tell that it was them who made it ;-)
My favourites were the crab, avocado and mayo, a classic combo that really works in a sushi roll and the salmon nigiri topped with beautiful pea shoots, that was almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
I have to say the BBQ was a bit too salty for my taste but I have really cut down on my salt so I think that is just my personal opinion and certainly one that did not seem to be reflected by others around the table!
One of the nicer chains on the Southbank - sushi and unusual dishes made with ethically sourced fish. Everything I've ever eaten here has been extremely fresh and I especially like the "light and healthy" menu section with the very well-named detox broth, a tasty combo of tofu, miso and pak choi leaves. Decor's OK but this isn't a place to linger; fill up and head back out.
I attended a sushi making masterclass and japanese bbq event on the Southbank, which was lead by Silla, the owner / Managing Director. Kazu, the head chef, was very patient at our end of the table and corrected any errors we were making in our attempts to recreate their works of art – and we had the privilege of using his special especially sharp sushi knife. Also, David (Head of Development & Production) explained the concept of the use of sake on the japanese bbq. Afterwards we got to relax over drinks and sample our efforts and the various flavours of the bbq. Throughly enjoyed the event, and will be back.
I tried their Feng diet and on the whole the food was good, healthy and delicious. pricier than some of the London sushi chains but good. Delivery is good too.
Great place to eat sushi in the borough Market. Fast service, nice environmental and great food for a reasonable price. So if you like sushi go there.
Nice dinner and the service was amazing ! A really cool guy named julio take care of us the whole night we were really happy with it and we will be back for sure!
Lovely restaurant set up, great looking aquarium, lovely caring staff, great fast service. Wow !
