Wasn't too sure on arrival..but the food was fantastic, the music was brilliant and though the waiter was hopeless..there was a charm to his ineptitude. Will definitely return.
Wanted to make a surprise to my boyfriend last Friday as he likes jazz and that was more than my expextations ! The bands was amazing ! The food was delicious ! the owner of the bar is a really cool guy with his team. We really had a good time and will definitly come back soon with our friends.
The atmosphere was so comfi...we felt at home
We thought we are just going to an basic restaurant to be suprised by the crazy menu! As we thought we are bound to go, the whole thing turns into a club. So we danced "all night long"
Similar to the dj music set list that follows, you never know what you're getting and it is useless to try to order. Exotic meals are the main course: we had bison, kangaroo and crocodile. It's more of an experience than a meal, as it is probably the first time you'll have zebra or shark. The place is very unique and reflects Dj Chef, the who owns the joint and cooks whatever he feels like, both his life story and past experiences (guy has lived all across Europe already!).
Try to stay for the after dinner party. Dj chef is an icon from Dalston.
Went here for dinner. First we sat inside in front of the band but it was a bit too loud tbh. The music was good, though. We ordered the seafood set and it was huge for us (we’re 4 petite ladies). Quality and taste of the food are amazing.
The food is fantastic, done with loads of care and skill whilst being completely unpretentious. We had the seafood special, and all dishes (oysters, prawns, crab, seabream ect) were well portioned and equally nice. The jazz music is great and overall it has a lovely atmosphere. You have choice over how much you pay for your meal which is really interesting and you definitely end up wanting to give them all your money!
Loved this place. Not sure why it’s not rated higher. The owner, Robert, was so friendly much like his son who prepared our delicious meal for the evening. Wonderful music and atmosphere. Did not stay for the late night portion but Already planning my next visit. Long live Dalston Jazz Bar
overall: one of the best experience i’ve had. the food looks rustic but the taste is exquisite. the jazz music was soulful & beautiful. (very interesting concept that u decide how much the food’s worth).
tip ❗️: make an online reservation for 8pm, so you can stay for the late night club music.
music 🎵: extremely talented jazz band that performed an amazing set over dinner time. excited by how it turns into funky dance/ club music as the night continues.
prawns 🦐: looks basic but the flavours are to die for. the sauce encapsulated all the juices and creaminess of the prawns, perfectly to dunk the bread into. the portion is very generous as well, at least 18 fat prawns for 2ppl.
garlic bread 🧄: pillowy texture w/ strong garlic smell. there’s also a layer of cheese that elevates the bread.
basque cheesecake 🍰: smooth creamy texture. large heft slice for 2 ppl.
Cosy jazz bar restaurant, if you’re sat in the inside table, you can almost touch the musicians and be anxious they might come and steal your food 😂 great music, and surprisingly good seafood dishes. We had the fish stew and it was absolutely fantastic 😋😋
Absolutely recommended! it's just I N C R E D I B L E!
One of the most amazing experiences I've ever had in London, and I've been living here for long time! Live jazz music + amazing food, it's incredibly rich, tasty and the portions are very generous! We had a mix of fish, including fresh oysters, a large king prawn cooked in a delicious sauce, mussels and focaccia bread on the side. It was a lot! and so delicious! We really didn't expect to be so incredible honestly! We had an amazing night! One of my favourite bits (as if this wasn't great enough already ): the service is just amazing! Literally everyone working there is open and smile and so nice! The chef was genuinely an incredible person and the waiters were amazing :) It's a gem, a rare and precious place! Please, go if you had the chance! You definitely won't regret it! 5+++ star, no doubt! I'll be coming back soon :)
Amazing - came with 13 of my friends for my birthday and the vibe and food was unbelievable! I can’t recommend this place enough 10/10 - thanks for making it the best birthday!
We had a fantastic time at Dalston Jazz Bar last Friday! The New Orleans-style atmosphere is cozy, with fantastic musicians setting the mood. Thierry, our waiter, was incredibly friendly and polite. We were lucky to sit next to the chefs in action, and Duke, in particular, is both charismatic and delivers spot-on food with generous portion sizes. This is a wonderful spot, and I'll definitely be returning!
Incredible hole in the wall place. Friendly staff, wonderful food. The garlic bread was extra delicious to go along with seafood. The jazz was nice too. I recommend making reservations to get a table inside because you can’t hear much of the jazz outside. They stop serving food at 9pm and then after the jazz band there’s dancing and music :)
One the most beautiful gems in London. Great family owned business, run with love and inspired by music. The menu is amazing; exotic and delightfully delectable. The taste in jazz is an equal match. I’ve been going here for years since moving to London and I imagine going for many years to come. Whether you’re living in London or visiting, this spot is a must, especially if you like jazz.
