I enjoyed the location and the atmosphere! The brunch was delightful, especially the baked eggs which I highly recommend. However, one downside was that after 4pm, they only serve pizza for food. Overall, it was a great experience!
Vardo is in a great spot in Duke of York Square. During a sunny lunchtime like yesterday i couldn't think of a better place to be. We both had a lovely tasty lunch of the crispy chilli sea bass with broccoli and flatbread with spicy masala sauce and chickpeas. The portion sizes was perfect all washed down with a rioja and sauvignon blanc. It was enjoyed in the lovely sun providing a great atmosphere is the trade started to increase at about 12.30pm onwards. Staff were friendly and the service was prompt and responsive. We believe that Vardo provided value for money considering it is in the heart of Sloane Square, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and recommend it as a great place for food and drinks.
A charming restaurant that neighbors the Saatchi Gallery with plentiful outdoor seating and a trendy interior. Duke of York Square is a perfect place for people watching: young couples drifting in their own world, mothers cooing at their babies, and blue business suits stopping for lunch. Union Jacks hang from streamers. We stopped in for lunch our first day and dinner our last day. The menu consists of elevated European fare and small plates. The cod dumplings are filling and fresh. The crunchy tofu was the perfect balance of salty and umami. Their pizzas are flavorful and fresh, I especially liked their caramelized onion pizza with heirloom tomatoes. Their selection of libations is excellent and they serve a delightful cup of earl grey tea. The servers are very pleasant and attentive, though the rate in which food comes out can be a little slow (at least it was for dinner, not so much for lunch). We enjoyed it so much we ate there twice and I’ve saved the location on my phone for next time. It’s a lovely restaurant and a must try if you’re staying in Kensington and Chelsea.
Lovely cafe! Very big & spacious, which helped because we were struggling to find a place to settle Sunday brunch, everywhere was full. Vardo was huge, with both indoor and outdoor seating and the ambience felt great for both. The food & coffee were delicious too and not too pricey!! My only gripe is they were a little small for the price point, in my opinion. But the taste is great! We ordered the hash, baked eggs and lemon curd pancakes. All were good and hearty, my favourite was the hash — so tasty and well fried. The lemon curd pancakes felt so refreshing as well. The iced oat latte was good too! Would return to this place
We love this restaurant which is situated in our favorite space in London; Duke of York Square. We found Vardo, as a result of a Google maps search for a restaurant near the Saatchi Galleries. We ate at Vardo three times during our week in London. We found our servers, particularly Amber, and the Manager Kendra so friendly, engaging and professional that they provided the added incentive we needed to make us return.
Tonight my wife had the Sea Bass, a cloudburst cocktail and vanilla bean soft serve, which she stated made it the best meal of the week. I had Grilled Halloumi with minted Freekah, a classic Negroni and chocolate mousse and orange sorbet. I thought the mint flavor on the Haloumi and the orange flavor on the chocolate mousse just complimented the dishes perfectly.
We hope to return in December.
Lovely wholesome food, fresh and funky combinations of flavours.
The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 starts is for the frosty and hard faced front of house person with the highlights who grunts rather than speaks to his customers.
My friend and I stopped by and grabbed a bar table seat for brunch. The food ingredients are all in good quality.
I ordered "Hot Smoked salmon, scramble eggs and sourdough." The smoked salmon is slightly cooked, and it is a bit salty. However, scramble eggs and sourdough toast are of good quality.
My friend ordered "Whipped smoke cod roe on sourdough..." he likes it.
Since this is one of the most expensive areas in central London, the benchmark should be higher for 5 star rating. I would give it four for this visit.
For ambient and atmosphere, it is perfect for casual and relaxing morning.
