The best brunch ever in London!
I highly recommend this place. Everything is tasty and so delicious. Be aware there is a long queue during the week-end. I can't wait for the next time.
A lovely brunch, freshly prepared served by lovely servers. The huge serving first class ham on the Eggs Benedict was a welcome surprise as most restaurants just put a thin slice. The eggs were poached to perfection. The banana bread was so delicious that we had an extra portion to take away. The pancakes and French toast were amazing. Freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and tea were all first class. I thoroughly recommend this delightful eatery. We saw many great looking other dishes being served too.
This place is definitely worth queuing for. It is homey and humble. The staff is friendly and helpful. Going on the weekend may mean that you might have to wait for a longer time to be seated but it is SO worth it because of the ambiance inside. I devoured the Buttermilk pancakes and they melted in my mouth! An excellent brunch place!
Ratio decidendi: So much love for this place. I have yet to be disappointed by anything here. It’s hands down the best all-round brunch place in London and would easily hold its own against some of the best brunch spots in Australia (aka the home of brunch). Obiter dicta: Aim to arrive about 15-20 minutes before open. It may sound a bit over the top, but the wait is worth it and will be far shorter than if you rock up after open.
A cute little neighborhood cafe but a very busy one indeed.
Their service was good but staff was quite flustered by the sheer amount of people waiting.
I managed to get a seat outside and ordered myself a cappuccino and a half size pancake (they also do half sizes French toast). The pancake was light and fluffy and comes with the most amazing honeycomb butter! Next time I'll ask for syrup on the side instead of drizzled all over. Coffee was slightly too weak for me!
Definitely a great place for brunch as their menu had good unique selections.
This is everything you could want from a neighbourhood place. One look at the menu and there's countless things I want to try that are more than standard breakfast fare, and nothing I've tried has ever disappointed. It's a small space that always feels buzzy, and service is always friendly. It can be a little loud, and the queues at the weekends are certainly a downside, but it seems wrong to penalise a place for being so good that everyone else is trying to go.
Last weekend I trekked out to unfamiliar territory (a leafy neighbourhood in Islington) only wait for another hour (or so) for my brunch at Sunday.
Was it worth it? In a word, yes.
With no official website backing it up and only (electronic) word-of-mouth to go on, it was tempting at first, to think I’d stumbled on a hidden gem. But in hindsight that might have been a tad presumptuous of me, as the line stretching out the door told a different story of Sunday’s popularity (noticeably among young, trendy and very in-the-know Londoners).
What a find! Lovely cafe tucked away from the hustle and bustle. We were lured here based on the praise it had already received- it's completely deserved. Great extensive menu with something to please everyone. We both ordered the French toast with banana and caramel sauce- they generously...
Sunday Barnsbury is a cozy cafe/restaurant on a peaceful, pretty residential north London road. There's indoor and garden seating at Sunday Barnsbury. We went for an early lunch as I had woken up feeling super hungry. I ordered a
Came here for brunch on a Thursday morning and it was surprisingly full, but only had a short wait before being seated. Good food in generous portions, though the meals didn't blow us away. Lovely atmosphere and staff.
Such a sweet little cafe in the heart of Islington.
Great coffee and the pancakes are incredible along with good service. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Perfect spot for a Sunday brunch or an afternoon coffee
After reading some good reviews for Sunday (and being late to the party on discovering a place thats decent near our flat) we made the mistake of heading off at half 11 for brunch. Dont do it! we queued for 1 hour and 15 mins.
That being said, it was totally our bad. get there at 9.45 ready for a 10am opening and wear a scarf if the weather is cold be prepared to wait. Its worth it.
The food was incredible. My husband said quite possibly the best full english he has ever had, and i opted for the potato gnocchi with chestnut mushrooms and poached eggs. The gnocchi was buttery and delicious, and the quality of everything was of the highest. The people next to us chose the corn fritters which looked awesome, and to the other side went for sweet butter milk pancakes. The portions are so generous we couldnt finish, and the coffee is served with a little doughnut. Cute!
Would strongly recommend brunch here.
Wonderful isn’t even the word. The food is so great and the lady who served us was so kind. Plus they’re very generous with the maple syrup 😍😍😍😍Though my friend decided just to have a tea due to food intolerances, she made sure to check on us and that we had a comfortable experience. If I lived in the area I would be there every day
You will have to queue, but it’s worth the wait. The service is outstanding, food is simply delicious and they serve great coffee.
Potions are very generous. Can only recommend this place!
A fab wee cafe tucked away with absolutely delicious food. Great for a brunch or lunch, although it isn’t too large and be prepared to queue! We waited for quite a while whilst there seemed to be available tables, which was a bit frustrating - but the waitstaff were super friendly and nice once it was time to be seated. Worth the wait in the end, because my cornbread with halloumi was absolute perfection!
Food here is so good, but make sure you get there expecting a queue. It is quite popular, and reasonably priced for London. I have to say, I did not enjoy the iced chocolate as it was too sweet. The courgette fritters, and cornbread with chorizo is amazing! Food here makes me full, satisfied and happy! I will come back again and again..
Great food, fair prices and as usual please expect a queue if you decides to sleep in or just not someone who can wake up early.
Easily one of the best English Breakfast we’ve had in town. Everything else is just as awesome. Need to visit a lot more often !
Sooooo good! Highly recommend. The wait time to get a table was around 30-45 minutes, worth it! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and the portions were great. The beat PB&J I have ever had. You can tell they used the best ingredients. It’s a bit of a ride if you are coming from center London but it’s worth it. Try the French Toast!
A little bit off the beaten path, but still popular enough to have long queues - make sure you come early! We queued for approx. 30 minutes before we got a table for two. The inside is relatively spacious (maybe ~10 tables total?) but wouldn’t recommend this for large groups since they take forever to seat! We got a couple of things - really recommend the toasted banana bread with butter, very delicious. We also got the courgete fritters and the cornbread with chorizo - both great.
Portions are VERY generous. Plus it’s pet friendly!
Been here twice, both on a Saturday. The first time I queued for hours (don’t go at peak lunch times unless you want to wait 2 hours) but the wait was worth it! Second time I came for a late lunch around 2:30 pm and got seated immediately and again the food was great. Lovely staff, atmosphere and a really nice neighbourhood to wander around in afterwards.
I loved the food. The combination of taste and structures was great. It was worth waiting 30 minutes.
You can never go wrong with the brunch/lunch at Sunday. Hands down one of the best brunches in London due to its delicious generous portions, reasonable prices and good coffee. Unfortunately that means really long queues in the weekend so go early to avoid disappointment. Courgette fritters are delicious, and so are the eggs Benedict with the sausage patties but the French toast is the highlight in the menu. Luckily they serve it in half portions too. Definitely recommended!
