Continuing my exploration of Crystal Palace as part of the blog’s spotlight month on the area, a Friday night took me to Thai Crystal. I’d first wanted to try Thai having seen the huge space that Tamnag Thai occupies on Westow Hill, clearly Thai must be popular in Crystal Palace I thought. Having done some further research though I found that the restaurant of choice for locals was not Tamnag but actually Thai Crystal, which is a smaller venue on the same road.
I had a lovely lunch with my friends after the Crystal Palace running event today. I had the 3 course meal from the set menu. Fish cakes, green curry and a bottle of sprite. My friend had grilled chicken from the normal which was tastier than my green curry. I would like to come back to try out the dishes in the normal menu as there is a better variety of dishes compared to the set menu.
Have ordered takeaway from here many times, but first time I've visited the restaurant. Food was amazing, had the vegetarian starter platter and the tofu panang curry with coconut rice. Staff were friendly, if a bit overwhelmed by how busy it was.
Excellent Thai restaurant on the High Street, fairly close to Crystal Palace park. Service was warm and welcoming, food preparation times were quick and efficient. We ordered the drunken fried rice, mango salad, and tom yam spicy vegetable soup. Everything was beautifully prepared and very nicely presented, down to the carrot flower garnishes. The restaurant has a warm and easygoing atmosphere and is a great place to relax in a group or by yourself with a book - especially nice to sit by the window during sunset.
Busy, clean, fast, friendly service. A bit pricey but worth it. Good sized portions, but the rice was a little small. Coconut rice tasted like plain rice with coconut shavings on top. None of the rices came with garnishes which was a bit disappointing. Pudding was good, ice cream scoops we're really sweet, but Rocky was absolutely amazing!
Good food, reasonable price. Not a great cozy place with delivery drivers and orders going out from front door... but did the job. Left very satisfied with cononut rice and prawn stir fry.
Really enjoyed our experience at Thai Crystal. The food was tasty and the staff were very friendly. We shared the corn cakes and dim sum to start, then we had the Tamarind Duck Stir Fry, the Garlic and Pepper Stir Fry and the Sizzling Duck dishes for main.
Food: delicious, ambience: relaxed and comfortable, staff: very chatty, friendly and accommodating, prices: reasonable, portions: generous. Did I mention the food was delicious? First time eating at this gem of a local and definitely not my last. Thank you Thai Crystal 🥘🍲🥗🍛🍚🍝🍜
I absolutely love this restaurant! It was my first time there and the food was so delicious that I can't wait to come back!!! The staff is also so friendly and the environment cosy and warm!
Great Thai restaurant. We often come here for lunch on a Sunday. The staff are really friendly. We've never been disappointed so far. We have visited Thailand on several occasions and very much enjoy Thai cuisine, and this is pretty good. Not overly expensive and have some good deals on the Express Menu. Very much recommended.
5 hygiene stars always a good start. Traditional Thai decor. Starters good with chicken satay and peanut sauce very tasty. My garlic and black pepper stir fry was fully of veg topped with lovely fluffy freshly deep fried tofu. He has drunken noodles which were plenty hot. We are glad this business has survived through the years. Sorry I ate all the tofu and half the veg before I took the photo!
