The place to go for high quality Thai food. Always busy. The best thing about this restaurant are the staff. Soo friendly make me feel so welcome every time I go there.
Would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to experience authentic Thai cuisine.
Had been meaning to try Essen Kheaw for yeaaarrrs - finally found myself in the right place at the right time with the right people and we were all beyond delighted. From the recommendations given by the hilarious and lovely staff to the big yellow fish in the tank (that no one likes because he's a bully) we already fell in love with the place. And then the food arrived...and - it was all incredible, the fragrance and freshness, the moreishness and the prettiness. My mouth and tummy haven't been so happy since I was last in Thailand - if you haven't been, you have to go - I'm already planning which friends I will invite on my next trip.
The staff was incredibly friendly and everything we tried was really tasty!
I especially liked the son in law eggs and the Penang chicken curry. And I loved their Thai ice tea. If you never tried it, I would highly recommend it. They have a version with milk, black or with lemon.
Definitely one of the best if not the best Thai restaurants in London I’ve had. We had the chicken satay and pad Thai and not a lot of places cook the chicken just right. Most restaurants overcooks the chicken and it becomes too dry, but this place nailed it with that and the flavour was so balanced. With the satay chicken the peanuts were just on point. Will come back if I’m in the neighbourhood again. Would love to try their sea bass dish next time as it looks amazing
Nice family run Thai restaurant serving Esarn/north Eastern Thai food. Although the service is pleasant and efficient, it can be a bit slow and the food is nice and a good choice if you are nearby but not really worth traveling across the city 😌
Esarn Kheaw is a family-run Thai restaurant that has been serving traditional Northeastern Thai cuisine in Shepherds Bush for over 30 years. The restaurant is small and cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they are always happy to recommend dishes to their guests.
The food is all made fresh to order, and the flavours are authentic and delicious. menu at Esarn Kheaw features a wide variety of Northeastern Thai dishes, including som tam (spicy papaya salad), larb (spicy minced meat salad), and khao soi (curry noodle soup).
We had stuffed wings and spring rolls for starter, which was perfect. For our main courses, we had fried rice and chicken thai curry, very flavoursome and penang curry with sticky rice, which was creamy and tasty.
Overall, I had a great experience at Esarn Kheaw. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. Tems is fab. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
My new favourite Thai restaurant in West London!
They serve Northeastern dishes like bamboo shoot salad and Esarn style papaya salad. All so delicious. The price was reasonable too. Two guests (without drinks) was about £40.
The owner was friendly and the servers were all helpful. The venue is not the most stylish but colourful. Booking is essential. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Monks visited for a Bhuddhist ceremony. The food and service were top class. I can only say that we eat Thai food almost daily so can be critical. This restaurant serves original and well prepared food that’s easy to recommend.
Like previous reviewers, my husband and I also came to this place as per Uncle Roger’s recommendation. We’ve eaten here twice. The verdict? Good, but can still improve.
What we liked:
-Grilled Prawns: smoky, flavourful and juicy with a tangy chilli vinegar sauce
-Prawn Tom Yum: just the right amount of sourness and spiciness
-Son in Law Eggs: tasty tamarind sauce
-Thai iced tea with milk: refreshing and authentic
What we didn’t like:
-Tiger Beef: a bit overcooked and the sauce was very salty
-Prawn Pad Thai: not bad but a bit too sweet
-Chicken with Holy Basil and Chillies: sauce was a bit watery and the dish wasn’t spicy enough
-Small serving size of every dish
That being said, we enjoyed during both visits and we can definitely see ourselves coming back.
Very good thaï restaurant. Tom yum soup was delicious. Both red and green curry were also excellent. The restaurant was fully booked, and to be sure to get a table better calling more than 24h in advance and checking that the comformation email has been sent.
Probably the best Thai food in London in-term of authenticity, fresh ingredients and fantastic price range. I came here over the years, and the price wasn’t much different from 10 years ago. They love what they are doing, and they passion about giving you great food regardless of how the inflation works!! Try it, and you will love it ❤️
Incredible food, warm and knowledgeable staff, lovely non-London prices for drinks, maybe the best Pad Thai I've had in the city. Oh, and pretty much anything can be gluten free, staff took a lot of care and consulted with the chef to double check.
Would give this place a 10/10. It's not the most central location but well worth a trip off the beaten track.
