The food and the whole experience was one of the best places I have eaten at. And I would highly recommend it to anyone who has never eaten authentic Japanese food
This brand new trendy Japanese restaurant has a great ambience atmosphere. Best Japanese food you can get in London at the moment. Service spot on and drinks to die for. Would definitely recommend it.
Visited for dinner, and made a reservation for table seatings but I guess the host didn’t understand so when we arrived they seated us at the counter. When we let them know that we asked for table they informed us that they didn’t know and didn’t have any tables left.
We didn’t want that to ruin our mood so we just sat at the counter and started ordering.
For drinks we both got virgin mojitos which was amazing.
We ordered a couple of items from the specials of the month which were:
Sautéed mushrooms (4/5)
Wagyu sausage (3/5)
Wagyu tataki (5/5) probably the best beef tataki I’ve had
And from the a la carte menu we got:
Scottish scallop Hama-Yaki (4/5)
Hida-Gyu A5 Chuck Roll Steak (5/5)
Very pricy but the steak literally melted in our mouths.
And for dessert we got:
Chocolate fondant with matcha ice cream (3/5) it was good but far from the best we’ve had.
All in all a good experience, and would come again. Hopefully no mixup with our seating arrangement next time though.
Just around the corner from Regent Street and a few hops away from Sketch, Tokimeite takes over the spot where Sakura used to be. It's the baby of seven-Michelin-starred Kyoto chef Yoshiihiro Murata (though he doesn't cook here) and acclaimed designer Yasumichi Morata. The menu reflects traditional Jap cuisine with a nod to Wagyu beef whilst the space, set on three floors, has a cool elegance reflecting fire, wood and water.
I've had a few issues with restaurant service lately so I was keeping my fingers crossed for a bit of luck this time. Luckily we had a rather nice server (though at times overly enthusiastic and slightly sales-y) who took care of us. He said Tokimeite meant "lust" whereas everywhere else says "anticipation" (ie butterflies in your stomach) which I thought was cute.
Amazing food, but they were a bit slow in cooking. The sushi and tempura don was fantastic. I would revisit 100%. Below are some pictures of what me and my friends ordered
Been quite a bit of Japanese restaurants in London and so far I would say Tokimeite is the best in terms of the freshness of fish and authenticity.
Even though the restaurant is a posh style, the staff were welcoming and willing to chat with customers. We’ve had counter seats and they were very friendly and also professional.
We ordered sashimi set, negitoro and tuna maki. It was all well-represented and fresh. I was groaning with joy when I ate fatty tuna - probably one of the best quality I’ve had!
Although it may not be a place where everyone can go regularly due to the price, it made me feel that I want to come back again. Based on the reviews, they had bad management a few years ago, but now they deserve a much higher rate than what it is now. So I hope more people will give it a go.
Food is very good. Solid 8+/10 depending on your choice. Service is very good. Prices are very toppish, small dinner at 150pp with no wine.. also a real pity that every time I’ve gone is basically empty. Not much atmosphere. Said this, can’t fault the chef - the sushi is amazing.
Atmosphere is not amazing but clean and simple decoration. Service is good. The food however is impeccable. Absolutely fantastic. Apart from the Michelin starred restaurants I dont believe there is a restaurant with better Japanese food in London
Pricey but good. The shiso ice cream was the most memorable thing we had that night.
book a lunch for friend's birthday. The best dining experience ever. Warm welcome. Kindness chief made special creative dishes for us, sake truffles wagyu eel and tartare all ON THE HOUSE . Amazing and surprised us. Hiiiiiiighly recommend!!!
Amazing experience sitting at the bar in front of John, he made the evening very special. Sit at the bar, share some sake with the chef, and you are bound to have a wonderful experience. Found this restaurant through their partner grocery store in Finchley area.
Dear People if You are Sushi fan like me this is a place in London to Visit! 🍣
I have visited TOKIMEITE for the first time. Service is excellent and flexible I love how staff integrates with customers and treat everyone individually. I am a salmon fan but everything I’ve tried was Fresh, Delicious and rich in Flavours! Chef has good sense of humour and watching him working with knife is a pure ART IN PREPARING Fish. Respect to food on different level.
One thing I can’t forget is picked tomatoes !(juicy explosion 💥) Its a must!
I loved it! Thank You for amazing service! It’s not only food that makes You want come back.

A beautiful venue, very sophisticated and relaxing. Their chandeliers remind of a Buddhist temple, it was fascinating looking at them.
The staff are all Japanese, very well mannered and friendly. I loved the food, it had authentic Japanese flavour unlike many other restaurants in London. Well definitely recommend to my friends.
The portions are very small, suitable for a late night dining.
Very lovely place. There are bar seats where you can sit and watch all the cooking action, or you could choose to relax on a lovely curved sofa table, which could comfortable fit 4 pax.
Staff were incredibly friendly, proper and professional. I liked that I felt super welcomed into this restaurant despite being just a groupon customer.
Here's what we ordered:
1. Tori Ten Wasabi Mayo - 鶏天山葵マヨ Chicken Tempura with Wasabi Mayonnaise £7.50
2. Kohitsuji Dengaku - 子羊二種田楽 Char-grilled Lamb (2pc) with 2 styles of Miso £12
3. Pork Rib Shiokoji-yaki - ベビーポークリブ塩麹焼き Marinated and Char-grilled Baby Pork Ribs £12
4. Salmon Teriyaki - サーモン照り焼き Scottish Salmon in Teriyaki Sauce £9.50
5. Shiba-Ebi Kara-age - 芝海老から揚げ Fried Portuguese Rose Shrimp with Lemon £13
6. Yaki-Shiitake - 焼き椎茸 Char-grilled Shiitake in Yuzu Ponzu £5
7. Sparkling sake £35 bottomless
8. Special cocktail - Mix of apricot infused brandy, Hendrix, ginger ale, Italian aperitif, decorated with passion fruit, slice of ginger and maraschino cherry.
Basically everything we ordered is highly recommended, but I'd skip the Shitake mushrooms. Not that it wasn't good, but I'd swap that for an Octopus if I wasn't allergic to them. You guys need to try the special cocktail. Don't think it has a name, but it's like a light negroni. It came served with some light snacks, fried radish and sweet potato.
Check out their Sunday Robata Brunch, starts from 2pm onwards. This is a lovely place to bring your other half for a special day out. A little pricey but totally worth it.
