3 friends and I had a delicious meal here today. Our server Tamta was superb from start to finish helping us confirm the food was halal and that they serve soup complimentary to all guests who order a main course. The starters and main courses were delicious and we were given tea at the end of our meal. The music and decor of the restaurant just added to the experience we will definitely be back.
It was a great experience, is first time that we visited this traditional Iraqi restaurant, we were offered from the house a delicious lentil soup and an excellent tea. The staff is very friendly and professional Tamta and Abdullah Both are great staff. All the food and specially the lamb was excellent. Thank you for making our visit beautiful and special, I highly recommend this place.
I really like this place. I usually bring guests here who I want to introduce to Iraqi food and it never disappoints. Some items are very expensive but overall the experience is worth it.
I recommend the Kebab, Dolma, lamb quozi and their Iraqi breakfast items. They also have Masgoof, the Iraqi grilled fish but I never got to taste it yet.
Usually you get soup and tea for free.
Nice to eat good middle eastern food like my mom use to make . the kubbha hamouth was my childhood favorite, and it was good here.
Assyrian chef doing us proud . Thank you ! From Chicago
I’m iraqi and I can say it’s one of the best iraqi food I tried .. the potato chab, lamb quozi were amazing the meat is really good with the rice and kubba was crispy and very tasty.. we also ordered kabab it was so good a bit heavy for someone not used to iraqi food but I personally loved the food. They also stay open till 10:30pm
We’ve been meaning to go here for a while and eventually made it yesterday.
The food and service was fine - not exceptional or the best we’ve had of food like this but still good.
The addition of a free lentil soup (don’t buy one as a starter as no need was a nice touch)
Two major issues though.
One - it is very overpriced for what it is. Similar meals can be up to £10 less in the west London area so this can only be excessive mark up. It was pretty busy so no real need to make up for a shortage of customers. As an example - a can of Coke was £4 and a fruit juice was £9 (put us off tbh!). And then you the 12.5% service charge and you realise it’s going to cost you far more than it first seemed.
Two - the toilets need proper cleaning. Both were fairly dirty and the men’s toilet really smelt very badly.
A shame as the restaurant itself is actually quite comfortable and well decorated and the food was good as I say.
The price and dirty toilets would put us off visiting again.
Came here with my mum today, portions are huge! And they give complimentary lentil soup and flatbread if you get a starter. Highly recommend their lamb dishes and Baba Ghanoush. Really fresh and tasty! Will be back
Samad Al Iraqi has become one of the best spots for me & my friends to eat out in London.
You cannot and I mean cannot miss their Maklouba, & Aryas they are from another world of idealism. Needless to say everything is halal so safe for all muslims to eat there. Also great hospitality from all who helped us.
Last time, we also tried the great Magsouf Fish dish, which is one of the national dishes of Iraq where they cook a big fish (almost 3 KGs) on charcoal for 3 hours but you have to let them know beforehand you want it.
Very good food, huge portions and cool restaurant. The manager is one of a kind, manages to be friendly and unfriendly at the same time, it was an interesting character. He told us to skip starters and to just order a main each, recommending some dishes. We were initially a little offended to be told what to order but in the end he was right, the mains are too big for one person and his recommendations were excellent so thank you. The bread is a must also, it was delicious. We also got complimentary lentil soups which were delicious and a good starter. I’d recommend to come with a large group so you can try several dishes and share. Make sure to book.
Food was delicious and we had so much of it that we packed up and had it for lunch the next day. I recommend this Iraqi restaurant and look forward to coming back.
For the price we were expecting a lot. Overall the food is delicious and tasty. However the price is way higher than other Iraqi places in London..and I don't think it is worth it.
