The flaming zombie and the banana daiqiri, really amazing from here, a true delight indeed to have! Really loved it from here will go again for them
Lovely outlet. Always crowded. Cool ambiance. It offers good Chinese food and great cocktails. The menu is diverse: Ribs, dim sum, noodles, dumplings salads and more. Honey smoked chicken salad is a must try. The service is average.
Good Chinese/dim sum place. Had a roasted duck noodle soup and it was quite enjoyable, the noodles were tasty and the broth was not too oily. The sim sums we had (the king prawn ones) were good as well but I think I have had better. Service was quick and friendly.
Usually as a veggie I find that I often struggle to find a good menu for Chinese food with enough options - but that was definitely not the case at Drunken Monkey. I went for the veggie set menu which had more than enough different veggie options for me to try. The set menu portion sizes are huge, and in my opinion are a great way for you to explore a little bit of all of the great options this place has to offer. Also this place has happy hour between 5-7 with cocktails priced at just £5, which given its location in Shoreditch makes it a great place to eat and drink at before a night out - providing even more incentive to pay it a visit!
7/10
Okay service
Good food
Great variety ( esp for veggie food)
Ideal place to catch up with friends in a group
Great venue with happy hour drinks 5-7 and good food at good
prices! Food ranges from dim sum, to noodles, ribs, squid and more - vast selection
to choose from. Decent prices (£4-7 for a dish) and decent portions. Been here three times and have not been
disappointed.
This place seems to be a great hit so we decided to visit for dinner last Friday. Good thing I made a reservation as the place was brimming with folks all set to bring on the weekend. For starters, we called for a portion of the prawn & chive dumplings - these were pretty bland tasting and we had to dunk them in the sweet chili sauce for some flavor to come through. In addition, we also called for the steamed bbq roast pork buns (which were quite nice), and a portion of the beef satay (this was really good and very flavorful). The quantity of the plates is quite less and the prices aren't high either. That being said, we were still hungry, so we went ahead and ordered more starters - duck spring rolls which were quite nice with the dark dipping sauce that came with it, and a portion of the chili salt fried squid - these were so good. The squid was juicy and the batter around it was crispy - very happy with this one. We were quite full by then, but we had already placed an order for the Singapore noodles with chicken. This dish was nice barring the fact that the chicken tasted a little weird. The service is quick if you are seated at a table from where its easy to wave your arm and get the staff's attention. Decent meal, easy on the pocket.
This is one of my favorite places for Happy Hour! (Weekdays 5-7pm - SUNDAY ALL DAY). The Asian inspired cocktails are great, and actually quite strong! The place is always buzzing after work!
My favorite item on the menu is the prawn and chive dumplings! I order this every time! I would recommend trying them!! Also awesome that this place accepts Tastecard (2for1dining), which leaves more money for cocktails :)
Side Note: the bathrooms are gross!
Our party of 5 popped in after work on a Wednesday night to find the place filled to the brim with hip young things catching up on each other's work worries or weekend plans, and dare I say it, we fit right in.
Once seated we quickly got down to business -- cocktails were ordered, the menu was intensely scrutinised. There was a good mix of dumplings, rice and noodle dishes, roast pork and duck, and salads. Our selections included the king prawn dumplings, Peking chicken wings, potstickers, Vietnamese spring rolls, wontons, steamed pork buns, roast duck hot pot, and almond braised broccoli. We happily scoffed down every dish while gossiping away, but there were some stand outs. Somewhat surprisingly, one of our favourites was the broccoli… I love the green stuff anyway but who knew it could taste this good.
Other highlights for me were the steamed goods- sui mai and king prawn dumplings are my favourite dim sum dishes, and they did them justice here. I was slightly disappointed with the roast duck hot pot; the duck lacked flavour and once deboned was scattered haphazardly across the rice. It was nothing like the artistically arranged crispy skinned roast duck that I know and love, but lesson learnt, I’ll just go to Chinatown for that. Stay away from the wontons too, they were a greasy waste of time. But those minor gripes aside, we enjoyed the food enough to go for another round of dumplings, though we definitely didn’t need them.

After visiting the Drunken Monkey with a buddy of mine, I experienced cravings of their lovely Dimsum the following week. With beyond excellent service, and extremely kind and helpful staff, this restaurant gave me good vibes from the second I walked in.
Sadly, when I asked if they did take out or home delivery, they said no. Otherwise, this restaurant would complete the piece to a relaxed sunday, order in chinese and watch movies kind of night.
However, I did feel that there was not much space for the food on our table due to its size, so if I had to advise you, I would suggest you chose seating around a fairly larger table unless you enjoy nearly knocking over your bottle of wine!
Yes this place is as cool as it sounds. Cocktails, dims and great music make for a dangerously enjoyable combination.
I'll usually just order a few dim sum dishes and then mix and match with my friends. The steamed dumplings are all very good and the pak choi is excellent.
This place us very popular so if you don't reserve in advanced it's going to be a long wait but you can always hang around the bar area and have a few drinks.
For such a nice venue I found the service a bit sub par nevertheless, overall it's still a very good restaurant.
