What a brilliant find! We were staying in the Travelodge on York Road and stumbled across this lovely little pub after a few drinks in the Asparagus. This place has a lovely chilled laid back vibe which made for a perfect end to the evening for my wife and I.

Dropped by The Candlemaker for a lazy Sunday dinner and was not disappointed. It has a super cool vibe, lots of little nooks and crannies to get comfortable in and TWO outside areas. The art work on the walls is also amazing. The Bacchus Sundays roast was (expletive) amazing! It was a first visit for me, but certainly won't be the last!! Staff are lovely too x

Battersea was once home to Price’s Candle Factory – which became the largest producer of candles in the world. Although the factory moved to Liverpool and eventually closed down, there are many buildings in the area which pay tribute to what was, at the time, one of the most important manufacturers in the UK. The Candlemaker, a refurbished 1930s pub that was originally called the Bellevue, provided a delicious meal with all the comfort of home cooking but none of the hassle.

We went to the Candle Maker recently and it is a great addidition to the pretty ropey high street. Great British food, from british farmers, is made at the restaurant. There is a pub feel that is super cosy and will be a great winter location but with its beer garden also a place to enjoy the sun.

The staff are super friendly and the range of drinks are great too.

Up there in the best places in Battersea to Eat.

Awesomely cosy pub to while away an afternoon or an evening with friends - bag one of the large tables, amuse yourselves with the board games on offer and settle in for the long haul.

The staff are super friendly and will help you in concocting any bizarre combinations you may be daring each other to drink and currently they are playing host to Death by Burrito, so we were also able to squeeze in some good food. The fish burger and chips were excellent and the hot dogs inspired some serious food envy, although I wasn't that impressed by the Burritos!

Battersea High Street now boasts a brand new(ish) pub which really lightens up this dreary high street. At the weekend, its home to a semi-food market where artisan traders park up at something which they hope, they'll be discovered by the masses. Unfortunately instead the clientele shopping here is not really in to that. I walk past the stalls, and traders are leaning over their pretty little food trucks with no more than a few flies lapping up their food.

Meanwhile the fruit and veg stalls are heaving - last time i was there a women got reprimanded for adding an extra two oranges to a £1 best before bowl (cheeky). Perhaps a little PR and this tiny high street could be a great attraction as foodies hibernate in Battersea these days, and spend all their time in Doodle Bar.

We heard about La Choza popping up at this quirky little pub and couldn't help ourselves on a Sunday afternoon, albeit with a small hangover. La Choza was born in Brighton, serving up authentic Mexican cuisine to its locals. It has a great following, so it was nice seeing them popping up in London, and very near my flat.

We found a seat in the completely empty pub - why it isn't busier i have no clue. They serve great selection of artisan beers and service is fantastic. Toiling through the menu we decided to start with a delicious starter of deep fried calamari with a deliciously crunchy and very tasty batter. A good squeeze of lime and an outstanding chipotle mayo which was other-worldly good.

Perhaps the highlight of our meal, and simplest was the perfect corn on cob. A hot, juicy corn coated in a chilli and lime mayo and a heavenly parmesan crust. It was very messy, but deceptively good - and of course very unhealthy (which these days is anything tasty). Perhaps a little tequila chaser after would have helped it down that little bit more, and cured the hangover.

Another street food inspired dish of hot shots, which are jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, colden crumbs and then deep fried. They are served with a chipotle sour cream, which compared to its mayo counterpart was perhaps even better. The hot shots were very tasty but i've had much better versions of these - without changing them completely there is only so good these things can get.

This place has an amazing atmosphere, the design is just right. It's rarely full due to the fact that it is actually quite hidden. The only bad aspect is rather poor alcohol range.

Came here after refurbishment. Ambience was absolutely brilliant! In terms of service, I didn’t get my drink initially and had to ask one more time to get the waiter send over. Food - chicken wings were dry, burger order was wrong and had to get the correct one made. Very over cooked beef and dry. The ribs was alright tender but not sure if it was the Smokey taste as it was quite salty to my liking. Overall still giving a 4 star with the atmosphere and the comfort ness of the restaurant. Food needs improving.

It’s so good, I went back 3 times in one month! The food here is amazing! The BBQ beef rib is one of my favourites, as it just falls off the bone, and is closely followed by the Smok’d burger. I’m also a big fan of the Mac & cheese bites. The portions are quite large and reasonably priced, especially the lunch menu. The staff are always really friendly, approachable and happy to help you with any questions you have or if you need food or drink recommendations! This atmosphere feels like a home away from home with comfy sofa seats and dim lighting, perfect for a bite to eat or chilling with friends with a beer.

Me and my friends had lunch at the Candlemaker yesterday and we were pleasantly surprised to discover a promotional 50% discount on the majority of the menu. There was a really good choice of food and great selection of draught beers, all of our main courses were amazing and delicious, however the side and starters were not of the same standards (small portions and quality compared to original price). Overall a good experience and staff was fantastic! We’ll definitely go back to try the rest of the menu!

UPDATE: Had a great chat with Leigh and went back to give it another chance since they were very open to our feedback. Stopped in for Lunch and can say the 50% off from September probably affected the team, which led to our poor experiences. This time around, they were very polite and the food was delicious (plenty of sauce 😉). We had the Ribs and Chicken Wings for lunch (have added photos) - can say they were delicious! Happy to upgrade my original review from 2 stars to 4 (3.5 isn’t possible so will round up). Original Review: After a few times in since they re-opened, and with the hope it would be better, I can’t give it more than two stars. Food: Brisket is dryer than my trainers; meats are lacking sauce (and hard to find BBQ sauce, must be a shortage?) and overall disappointing bbq (save the £25 Rib) - Chicken wings were also extremely dry (ordered Buffalo, but assume it was on the same delivery order as the BBQ sauce as there was none on the wings). Service: Having just opened, you’d think they care about locals and creating an inviting space… but all the staff (save one very nice older gentleman who I assume was one of the managers) are uninviting. They seem to expect us to cherish the privilege of coming into the pub we’ve been visiting for years and have a very ‘oh well, tough luck’ approach when communicating (main reason we will be avoiding and visiting the other great spots in the area) Atmosphere: hard to tell, you can’t walk into the back, no dogs allowed (because of one person complaining I’m told) and no vibe because of the aforementioned attitude from staff. Check it out while the food is half off, but other than that ‘carrot’ I don’t recommend it.

We had reserved for 7pm on a Sunday for 3 and had a fab night. Kenny seated us and he bought over a chair for my mum instead of making her sit on the benches, which was so kind. Josh was amazing throughout, so patient, answered all our questions, he got Steve to make mum a mocktail off menu and also facilitated swapping something out as we didn't eat beef. All round legend! The food was gorgeous. The halloumi fries were soft not chewy, the buffalo chicken wings were delicious, the ribs and pork belly were cooked beautifully and the veggie burger was a hit too. My only complaint was that there was so much food. I didn't have space for dessert ☺️. They had unfortunately run out of their "S'moast" but Reece advised it best to book a table at lunchtime to try those. Thanks team! We will be back for sure.

Special introductory offer for lunch at half price, and that made a grrrreat lunch. Nice decor, arty, a friendly painter actually still decorating the murals (see pics). Friendly staff, good choice of the menu, but (I probably didn't read the fine print) the rib combo wasn't on the half-price offer. Ordered a tasty big portion of brisket with yummy gravy/sauce. My friend had the very delicious babyback pork ribs, 😋. The starter of battered squid rings was light and good. Nice non Alcoholic Erdinger beer. Staff friendly and courteous. Overall, it was a very good experience. Recommended.

The service is the best in London! Super friendly and super on it! We had burgers! If you like meat and a great pub atmosphere, this is your place! Cosy atmosphere and local vibe, can’t beat it!

Big tasty portions. Tried a few different plates as it was 50% off. The ‘smoker trash loaded fries’ were insane and the ribs were delicious.

Damn good Beef Rib! And great Monday specials! Very similar to Smoke Daddies in Balham.

Very nice atmosphere same as a new concept around Battersea locals. However would be appreciated some love given for Roast Sunday's veggies, lot of options and components which is amazing but taste was plain. Pork belly was delicious 👌 would be interested to attend live music evenings there too 👍
