I would highly recommend Ivory Arch Restaurant & Bar nice atmosphere, food was delicious.
Im a recent visitor to London. I came to The Ivory Arch Restaurant by recommendations from a fellow students. The food very authentic and delicious and very affordable, the stuff ware very friendand helpful. I will be recommending to other fellow travelors.
been eating here since I was a youngster and still ordering from here now. food is amazing wouldn't eat a curry from anywhere else. x
Great little place tucked away in the corner of E&C. We went on a Sunday when desperately hungry - La Bodeguita was kicking off with live music and we wanted somewhere a bit quieter. However, accidentally stumbled into yet more live music with Ivory Arch's 'Soulful Sundays'.
Food was great - the chicken Jalfrezi had the perfect level of spice, the king prawns were brill. All round worth noting down as _a decent curry in South london_
And in a nice setting too. We managed to eat and leave before Soulful Sundays properly got going but the large local crowd that had gathered made the restaurant look like a cosy staple of the community.
Saying that, it looks as though it can be pretty quiet on another day so don't come expecting a bustling curry house.
The Ivory Arch restaurant is based in the heart of the Elephant & Castle se1. Its a family run restaurant, established in 1986. There are two parts to this restaurant, the main restaurant is fully licensed and serves quality Indian food, there's an extensive Vegetarian section on their menu too. The other part of this restaurant, has a cafe feel with counter service and seating area. They serve a wide verity of foods: Drinks, snacks, Indian meals, fish & chips, burger meals and pizzas. The Ivory Arch is very popular with local residents, students and tourist. There are lots of photo of the owner and world celebrities( Whitney Huston, Sir Michael Cane, Puff Daddy, Bobby Brown and many more ).
Just did a search for," Ivory Arch." I was very surprised to find not much reviews. I have been eating in this restaurant for the last 3 years with over students. It is a very popular place, the food is cooked to order, so you know its always fresh. The prices are very reasonable, even for students. And the food is amazing .... nothing short of amazing.
They also do a night called, " Soulful Sundays @ the Ivory Arch with Open Mic," its a live music night with a full band. The Sunday night is also very popular, very busy.
Best halal curry in London. You gotta hit this joint best pumpkin curry out there, don't go anywhere else but to ivory arch. Go thank the owner and chef they put in good work.
I have seen some mix reviews about this great establishment. Some are just too rubbish to be true! I am a local customer, I know this restaurant to be over 28 years in business under the same ownership. It has pioneered home delivery, live entertainment, private hire, events. The Ivory Arch is a land mark for the Elephant & Castle. I simply know the restaurant for, " friendly staff and delicious food."
Had an amazing time in London and the Ivory Arch restaurant made my experience so much better! The best food I have ever tasted in my life! Such wonderful employees and the owner, Bahar is absolutely the best guy in London! This restaurant has made me want to come live in London so I could have access to the delicious food whenever I need it!
I've been using the Ivory Arch restaurant since 2005. It has an extensive and varied menu, also a fantastic Vegetarian section. I was told the Ivory Arch has been running since 1986, under the same family ownership. The Ivory Arch is a little confusing because it is 2 restaurants. The main restaurant is fully licensed and serves Indian food. It has a stage and dose live events( Live Bands, Open Mic ) and private parties. The smaller restaurant is ideal for groups of students or people who want a snack, hot drinks, meal deals with counter service. I like the Ivory Arch, the food is quality and fresh, the customer service is very friendly and familiar.
The Elephant & Castle is changing so much that its very hard to find anything from the past. The Ivory Arch is an old trusted friend that my colleges and I use. We have just finished a wonderful evening there, eating and drinking. As always we were treated kindly and served the best curry ever, it gets better every time. I noticed, that they have a night called, "Soulful Sundays with Full Live Band & Open Mic." Interesting, I think I may take, " A Nose."
The green banana curry is the best. Be warned, it had quite a bit of a kick. The inner venue at the back is way nicer than the shallow dining area at the front of the shop.
The Ivory Arch is a great restaurant, it's been established since 1986. It has two restaurant areas. The main restaurant is fully licensed, for private parties and fine dining. And the other is a easy diner. There is an Al Cart menu serving mainly Indian cusine for the fine dining customers and a more veried menu for the easy diner section. It's very popular with students and local people, also with DISCOUNT CARD holders. The restaurant is clean, the food is fresh & delicious and the staff are very friendly. The Ivory Arch was the first Indian Restaurant to interduce home delivery service to the Uk.
I'm really surprised this place has some negative reviews... I think all of the fans of the Indian food know it and definitely prefer it than the other ones in this part of London. The restaurant is always clean and tidy, the staff is polite and you can be sure they'll treat you like a king.
Don't forget to try the some of the special dishes like Tikka Masala and Tandoori Rezala - they're just amazing.
Ivory Arch has the scrappy charm of a roadside eatery in a developing country somewhere, but not in a bad way. The aggressive high school prom lights twinkling away and the corrugated metal siding transport you most of the way there, but it's the waiter's seeming annoyance that people would dare to eat there on a Friday night.
We started with some papadum, which as usual is just an excuse/vehicle for mango chutney and yogurt sauce. The mains were average London curries, nothing to call home about, but also nothing that thrusts you into power on the ivory throne later.
The sag gost (spinach and lamb) is solid here, and we wiped up every bit of it with the buttery naan.
The rajma isn't a dish I've seen anywhere else, and it's honestly pretty good. French beans and chick peas cooked in a yellow slush of onions and peppers, it's a good way to earn back some food karma after all the other meaty meats.
Ivory Arch transforms into a takeaway place on the other end linked by a small kitchen, so don't be afraid to holler at your waiter if you need anything. Poor guy is trying to run two joints at the same time, so resist helping yourself to the bar in the back.
Bill came out to £20 per person, but the six of us had appetizers, mains, breads & rice, and multiple rounds of Tiger beers (and a parting shot round for the road just for luck).
Excellent restaurant, especially if you're a vegetarian like me. The menu has an extensive non-meat section with delicious items and dishes. Lovely atmosphere and comfortable tables complete my nice experience with this place.
I ate at the Ivory Arch last night. The food was amazing, it was affordable and the staff were very attentive. I am thinking of having a birthday dinner and will be going to the Ivory Arch with my friends and family next month.
Great choice of dishes for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.
