One of the highlights was definitely the abundance of food. We opted for the Bavarian sausage platter and a mixed platter, which included an enormous pork knuckle and schnitzel which I particularly enjoyed. The portions were absolutely enormous. We were a group of five, but ordering the two platters (each platter is designed for two people) was more than enough to satisfy our appetites. We left absolutely stuffed with (sadly) lots left over.
We enjoyed sitting outside in their courtyard, which has a great relaxed vibe. The platters came with plenty of salty chips and bowls of salad accompanying the platters. There was a surprisingly small amount of sauerkraut, and whilst the platters came with jugs of gravy and curry sauce, it would have been even better to have had condiments with the food (mayo, ketchup etc).
The staff were a bit slow at times, often leaving us with empty drinks. We requested additional drinks, which didn't arrive, requiring us to flag down another staff member and reorder. one member in our group had an egg allergy, and it turns out wasn't able to have any of the sausage or the schnitzel, and they had run out of a lot of the main meal options including the goulash. She ended up with a vegan schnitzel which she wasn't very impressed with.
Overall it was a memorable dining experience heaps of Bavarian food, and a great range of beers.
We ate here two times - both times were amazing. The food is very authentic and tasty. The currywurst and the meatloaf were very very good! The atmosphere is nearly like a beer garden - and sets the right mood. The staff is very friendly and quick. The beer is pricey but, of course, good. This place is my favorite among all at the docklands and is a must see if you stay in the area. Can only recommend.
The food was amazing. I ordered the Business menu which included a schnitzel a strudel and 1 snaps. The service was brilliant! I like the place because there are many varieties of beer! I would definitely go again and I highly recommend it to everyone! Thank you
I should have discovered this place a long time ago. The vibe is wonderful and both the indoor and outdoors areas are great.
Food is great, though through busy evenings it can take a while to arrive. Nevertheless, the schnitzel and classic Bavarian menus are excellent to transport you to Germany for a few hours. The music and the themed-dressed staff contribute as well to the real Oktoberfest feeling going around.
Couldn’t recommend this enough, especially for larger groups!
Price:
- very cheap for the massive portions you get
Quality:
- superb. I am German myself and it's equally good here as at home
- the pork knuckle is a recommendation / must try
- the chicken is available on Sundays only but very tender which is where most restaurants fail
- sausages are great and a platter is easily enough for 4 average people
Location:
- eating and drinking outside is very enjoyable from a view perspective and also atmosphere wise
Conclusion:
- one of the best restaurants in London for me and even better when you are really hungry as the portions are big. On top it's probably the best value for money you can get these days.
A fantastic venue with a really cool atmosphere. It's Happy Hour from 4pm which included 2-4-1 (of course I bought my first drink ten minutes before it started without realising!).
We noticed that all the outdoor seats were reserved and had to sit inside which was fine, with decent tunes playing. I mention it as it might be worth making a reservation on a nice day.
Well worth a visit, particularly to enjoy authentic Barvian food and drink
All staff were polite, efficient, and friendly. There is a varied menu and a vegan option, I believe. The venue is clean and spacious. The Oompah band added to the atmosphere, particularly if you love the trombone, which is so closely associated with Munich. I hope that the short videos can give you a taste of what to expect. Lots of clapping and cheering, too.
Wonderful place for an afterwork visit, the food was AMAZING (especially the potato salad), the drinks were also amazing and the service was superb. Highly recommend.
My first experience here was great. We received a very warm welcome by staff dressed in tradional German attire. Leon, the waiter was always busy serving but always had a smile on his face whilst being pleasant to customers. The food was plentiful and very tasty, we also didn't have to wait long either. My gosh, the 'stein' of beer was enormous, roughly a litre of beer in massive glasses.
The atmoshere was bustling, lively, background laughter amongst the tables, with a nice bit of music in the background.
A bit expensive ie: Sunday Roast £18, a glass of wine £12 for 250ml but I'll definately be going back for more.
A good place to bring a group of friends for a night out at Canary Wharf.
Good beer, it’s nice to order the beer board so you can taste all six and then you can decide which one you can go and order a pint. The food was amazing, plenty for three people. I would definitely go again!
