Loved this place from start to finish. The menu, the food, the ambience, the large tables so you don't feel cramped, the service. All fantastic. The wine is a bit over priced (bottles start at £42 I think) but no other complaints. When the bill arrived we'd been over charged a couple of £ so I pointed it out. They fixed it immediately, gave us a discount, AND a free drink each. We had the sourdough bread with onion butter (wow!), the octopus, the beef cheeks in red wine, and the chickpea chips (phenomenal!!!), and the lavender creme brulee for dessert which was really good. Seriously, try the chickpea chips!

I have always loved this place because of the good wine, pretty interior and lovely ambience. Came back again tonight at 10pm and had a glass of wine with a friend and just to take in the atmosphere of this place. They do wine on tap as well, and are surprisingly really good! Lighting is perfect for a quiet and chilled evening, and the interior is just so chic. Absolutely loved it - and would definitely come back for some Saturday/Sunday brunch in the future. Oh, the staff members are all so friendly and nice, got chatting to a few of them in our 1 hour in the restaurant. They also have a little wine shop section and you can also sign up for wine tasting. Needless to say, I will be back. Highly recommend.

we recently got £150 in vouchers for porte noire, so went down for a friday night meal. the restaurant is in one of the old gas containers next to coal drops yard, the filled in containers look like something out of star wars (not a compliment), but once we found the entrance, the restaurant was lovely. we went for: charcuterie sourdough cod fregola lamb belly chickpea chips truffle mash croquettes soy & sesame tenderstem matcha cheesecake pistachio ice cream & chardonnay the service was excellent and the food didn't take long at all. our server let us know the chef wasn't happy with the lamb belly, so gave as a free glass of wine whilst they cooked another! the lamb belly dish was my fave, the potato's and veg with it were banging. the chickpea chips were great too and i loved the soy & sesame tenderstem which were so flavourful. this isn't somewhere we'd normally go (thank you voucher), but i'm very glad we did. lovely food

A hidden gem and probably the best restaurant in Coal Drops Yard. All dishes are unique and delicious, especially the chickpea chips! A big selection of wine and the staff are very happy to help you choose something to your taste.

One of our favourite wine bars & restaurants in London. Food was amazing and they have a good selection of wines. The service is brilliant from the moment you step in. The staff is so friendly and it makes the experience even more special. I would come here again for casual drinks as well as special occasions, the atmosphere can accommodate both

Superb wine selection in a quiet location off Coal Drops Yard. The service is fantastic, attentive, friendly & charming. We had the olives & bread, which was a perfect accompaniment to the wine. We started with a glass of the house rosé & orange wine on tap, then shared a carafe of the Sangiovese, which I'd thoroughly recommend. Cannot wait to go again to sample more of the wine & food.

Excellent spot to try amazing wines, sit outdoors, have a chat with the friendly staff and stay for hours. We actually came twice on the same day and each time was outstanding; friendly service, excellent wine recommendations, comfortable seating, chill atmosphere and good prices. Happy to come back again specially on a summer evening

Exceptional place everything was perfect couldn’t have had a nicer time. Can be tricky to find as the Google maps address takes you somewhere else so look for the Gasholder building and Bagley walk, follow that path to get there! You won’t regret visiting.

Dishes designed for sharing are not going to stop me from trying :P Next time l’ll bring friends who can appreciate wine. (How can people come here only for a gelassen of wine each?! Food is good here.) Thanks for accommodating my early arrival for dinner in the chilly rainy windy afternoon! Chestnut Celeriac Soup. Rich, creamy, not too heavy. I haven’t tried celeriac before, but it tastes like an earthier version of celery soup. The chestnut bits are lovely. I won’t normally go for soup, but it is no disappointment. Steak tartare is really full of flavor, (to quote the waiter, the second section is “heavier in terms of flavor not necessarily portion”. It’s probably the most heavily seasoned tartar I’ve had— red pasta flavor of tomato, basil, pine nuts— imagine stirring meat with pizza sauce. It may be doing a little injustice to the quality of the beef, but tastes interesting and exciting. The sourdough strips are fried to a beautiful golden color, and the amount of oil must be horrific. I would totally enjoy some simple toasted sourdough with equal if not more satisfaction…🤔 Perhaps next time I’ll try requesting that. Dessert why not. It’s hard not to have someone to share, but I am determined to try the recommended tarte tartin. Swapped vanilla ice cream to pistachio;) The ice cream is not too sweet. Though not prominent in pistachio flavor, it contains crushed grains of nuts. The thin apple slices is presented in a unique swirl. Deep bittersweet proper caramel flavor. The sandy sable Breton might be too sweet to on it’s one or with the topping, but it goes well with the pistachio ice cream in my opinion. (Didn’t finish the glazed fruit for the sake of my blood sugar. Wish there are takeaway boxes. 😅) I could have settle with a pistachio ice cream affogato but a visit is always more fun with staff’s favorites, especially the first time. Tomorrow I will work out hard… The view is tranquil. The space may augment sounds and voices, so I’d agree it’s not a usual quiet place if you want something very intimate. Service is sincere, warm, and attentive. Will come back to try more dishes with or without sharing companions :>

Excellent!!!!!!!! I came here with some girlfriends visiting from the states and we ordered everything! I didn’t have time to take pictures before I ate but everything was delicious! Truffle and Mushroom balls were heavenly. Cauliflower and chickpea fries were delicious! Burrata special was so yum. Argentinian prawns were also delicious! Smoked salmon was small but refreshing. I would highly recommend. Awesome music, great ambiance and friendly staff.
