Came across this place by accident as I was told to book the bird in hand in Saltford because we have a puppy with us. By the time I realised the mistake it was too late so just went ahead to this establishment which allowed dogs in as well. Blessed we must have been because this place is SUPERB! Great atmosphere, wonderful staff giving warm service and OMG was the roast outstanding! From the quality of the meat and how it was cooked (perfectly done to the point!) the potatoes are exactly how everyone dreams to have theirs done and the gravy! F**k me them gravy was like liquidy beefy gold! I could've had it in a bowl and just drank it till night came. Even the vegetables was beyond my comprehension. I never had vegetables that perfectly cooked except in a Michelin star fine dining restaurant. All in all I want to marry the chef, stalk him until he does! (Jokes of course! But if he/she is interested why not eh!) seriously though bravo bird in hand! You guys have three in hand and all in the bush are flying to get in there too!

Stumbled on this lovely friendly pub, when using another local business. Decided to try south African dishes from the menu.... So glad we did. Food was superb, fresh and well presented... very reasonable prices too. Would HIGHLY recommend.... Staff were very friendly, telling us about his travel to Africa... Was very interesting.... Would definitely be going again soon... Thank you guys x
Had a large family gathering here and everything was exceptional. The staff were wonderful, food was incredible and the atmosphere was great too. Loved the mix of traditional pub and South African cuisine. Certainly unique and could most definitely be described as a hidden gem. Would return again myself and will recommend to plenty of others.

Lovely pub, perfect for Sunday dinner which was beautifully cooked, in a hearty portion size, and served by friendly landlords. Loved the South African desert option too, like an even better sticky toffee pudding. The pub is cosy with a log fire burning too. Will be back!
Love the food and vibe this slightly trendy country pub has to offer. And the service was brilliant. So glad we came across it and would go back in a heartbeat if I was in the area. Great country pub, great dinner. Thanks to the team and chef for making it such a fun and delicious!
We recently moved to Long ashton and wanted to try something local to us, we walked in in the bird in Hand and were acknowledged and welcomed straight away. Service was friendly and professional. My partner had the chicken burger which was really tasty! I was really pleased as they had my favorite gin which is not available everywhere. Overall a great experience and we will be back again!
Serves Guinness again. Small but good selection of craft beers and lager. Food is not your standard pub grub, good quality, but always check the monthly menu to see if their is something you like. Great scoth eggs
Great pub with classic grub and some delicious South African dishes. The Bobotie croquettes were cracking and the Lamb Bunny Chow curry was delicious. We had fun playing eye-spy with all the South African decor. Very warm and friendly service too.

Will definitely return during our stay and try the food. Real ale selection was top notch!
Nice village pub with unexpected South African connection. Tried the Durban chicken 'bunny chow' curry - really lovely and different to usual pub food. Though burgers looked lovely as well! A few good ales as well. Staff very friendly. Recommended.
