Fred and his awesome team never fail to knock it out of the park when it comes to their exquisite fish tapas / small plates, immaculate presentation and friendly service.
As locals, we’ve visited many times since they opened for business, and it’s one of our favourite places to dine in town. Returning time and time again for our fish-kick.
It’s a relaxed, informal, intimate dining experience - situated right on the harbour front so you can soak up that stunner of a view.
Fred, very focused on quality, freshness and sustainability, sources most of his produce from our local waters and does his upmost to work with what’s available.
His flair and obvious passion for producing well executed dishes with maximum flavour, without overpowering the delicate fish, is evident in each mouth watering bite.
If that wasn’t enough, his amazing front of house team are there to greet you with a smile, some friendly banter and offer great recommendations on wine pairing - of which they have many options - again doing their best to spot light local artisan makers.
Always uncompromising, always amazing, and if you adore exceptional fresh fish tapas, you’ll be in awe of this little gem of a restaurant, and its cheeky chef / owner Fred.

Booking is essential! This is a small restaurant managed by a professional, very hard working and talented team. Our meal was divine. The freshest seafood cooked with pzazz and perfection. Unpretentious yet ultimately supreme. Well done Fred Alsop and Co!!
Incredible seafood in the perfect setting. The team has created a lovely, relaxed, and yet very special atmosphere in the restaurant (accompanied by a very good playlist). We ordered 8 dishes between 5, and everyone shared, making it a joint seafood experience! We were all blown away by the food - oysters, scallops, and john dory were standouts. Fred and the team have created something very unique.
If you love fish you will love it here. Amazing seafood where the menu changes daily. served in a lovely restaurant on the water. Service is friendly, atmosphere is relaxed, and the fish is incredible. One of the nicest meals I can remember, still thinking about it a week later. There's not many options if you don't want fish, but what they do they do exceptionally well. Worth a visit if you are in looe or anywhere nearby or even not that near! Half the price of a similer quality restaurant an hour north. I hope we will return sometime soon!
Lovely small venue.
Food was all fresh and delicious. We had the seafood platter which you need to pre order a couple of days ahead.
If you are a seafood fan this is a must visit.
Rarely do you happen across a rising star.
One man in a small kitchen making probably the finest food I’ve eaten - ever, really (I’ve eaten food cooked by Ramsay, White, Stein and other well known chefs).
Stop reading this and book a table. While you can.
I do not eat a lot of fish but I did want to try whilst at the sea front. The welcome and staff were very friendly and the food was just fantastic.
Great seafood for a reasonable price, they recommend a side and 2 fish portions per person which is what we did and we left feeling full. Portions are bigger than we expected and service was excellent
Just eaten here, Annie squeezed us in on a busy Saturday night at this small intimate venue.
And can I just say that it was the best meal I have had in ages
Annie was delightful and very informative about the menu...anyone visiting Looe needs to visit here and experience an excellent night of incredible food and 80s music soundtrack...Best night ever

We have been coming to Cornwall for many years and my wife has been waiting forever to find a great fish restaurant. I had spent weeks searching for the right place to eat and one restaurant kept popping up on several review sites with great feedback from previous customers.
As we were staying in Looe, we decided to take the advice of previous customers and book The Fish Market.
Five stars doesn't go far enough in representing our experience, we were overwhelmed by the whole outstanding experience. Service great, restaurant decoration great, the Fish platter and wine out of this world. The selection of fish was explained to us at the table, it was cooked to perfection with some great flavours, topped off by a recommended bottle of wine which was lovely. We were treated like VIP's in a comfortable and relaxed environment and felt like we were eating somewhere in the Mediterranean.
Full marks from the both of us and we'll definitely come again when we're in the area, thank you for a wonderful time.
