Family meal on a Tuesday evening: the place was filled! This chef knows how to craft some wonderful dining experiences. Pork belly had a deep complex taste without being over salted and Welsh Mussels were a treat. We all enjoyed the thoughtful wine pairing suggestions over our 3 hour meal. A real gem of a place, chef passionate about his art and that his patrons are enjoying their meal, outstanding service and lovely location.
Fantastic pub. Food and service is amazing. Very child friendly with a lovely garden and play area so you can watch them whilst you enjoy your lunch and glass of wine. On those rainy days they provide toys and colouring books for the little ones. Toilets are lovely as well. Would highly recommend. Owners very welcoming and will listen to your needs. Will definitely be returning when I am in the area.
I was with a party of 14. The service was excellent . All the meals arrived hot . Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The staff were attentive but not ‘in your face’. We were all given a card with a number and QR code on so when ordering everything was transferred to the card so payment was easy as when the card was handed to the barman he knew exactly what we had to pay . A brilliant system .

I absolutely LOVE this country pub! My favourite country pub in Surrey and me being a biker, I have been to quite a few and none surpass this gem! Excellent staff, delicious food and amazing atmosphere! ❤👏

Absolutely incredible! The minute we arrived we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome , so friendly and attentive! George the owner runs an immaculate restaurant serving amazing food , the menu is perfect What a beautiful pub . When the food arrived the steak was cooked to absolute perfection! I would like to thank the manager and her colleague on Monday evening for such a lovely evening , what a way to celebrate my birthday dinner on a Monday evening ! Well done everyone, compliments to the chef too! Keep up the good work

The best steak my husband has ever eaten (me too he actually allowed me a taste). The Sea bream was superb. The service was excellent - a great front man. The pub itself is full of charm and Character. Lovely pub garden overlooking the fields.

A perfect country pub with great food and attentive and kind staff! We spent most afternoons there after a lovely long country walk. Great for the rugby and great if you’re looking for a beer garden!
Food was fabulous. Bavette steak for Mr and burger for me. What a treat. Triple cooked chips 👌steak as requested. Home made burger was tasty & served with pickles. Lovely view from terrace. Great friendly and non intrusive service. Good selection of beers. No pictures of the food today. Consumed with gusto. Will need to return for pudding another time 😀
Great pub, excellent staff. My daughter and I had the Tich burger. For me it was pure joy but my daughter is not the cheese smothering, especially as quite peppery and had a little heat guessing sweet chilli but I could be wrong.
My wife had battered cod and chips, she said it was the best she has had in years. Two out of three satisfied customers.
Don't get me wrong the quality of the food was outstanding. Our daughter is not a sauce, garnish or a big fish lover. It's a shame they did not have a plain steak or burger option.
Probably one of the best pubs in Sussex. We regularly dine with a large group and have never had a bad experience.
The landlord always makes an effort to welcome us and check how everything is.

A great venue for private party’s too, We set up a sequin wall and balloons for a function and it all looked fab!!
Without question, the best pub I have been for a long, long time. The staff were happy, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu and the story behind the name of the pub. George, the owner, could not have made us feel more welcome from before we'd even got inside, or done more to make sure we enjoyed our meal and drinks once we were in. Kids menu was generous, adult menu was delicious and even a very good vegan option.
