Henry and Joe have worked hard over the last couple of years to make The Saltern a fantastic addition to the Lymington pub scene. Food is interesting with an emphasis on experimentation and local provenance and is very well cooked with a selection of delicious bar snacks under the "Slopp" menu in the bar area and then more refined but informal dining in the dining room. A huge selection of wine & local and craft beers is on offer.

Food was really nice, portions were generous, we ordered a little much! Fish was fresh and the battered monkfish was very nice too, as was the tenderstem on the side. Friendly service & interesting wine list!

Lovely staff, fantastic range of craft beers including a few far out creations which are very exciting! Went back twice in 2 days. Had lunch today and the food was delicious too, perfect way to spend an hour in their sunny garden. Grabbed a few cold Takeaway cans from the fridge too.

Lovely staff, huge and great selection of beers and wines, and the most unexpected, incredible food. It's like gourmet restaurant meets wine cellar meets a local, friendly bar. We went there on a Sunday when they have a Sunday Brunch menu which is a selection of small plates, we had almost one of everything, including the puddings, and they were all delicious, really thought through dishes, creative and full of flavour. Priced accordingly and attentive, unobtrusive service. Totally recommend.

Me and my partner went here for a meal on Friday 3rd September. We were impressed! BUT, don’t do what we done and arrive to see an empty restaurant, panic and walk off for the next 30 mins to not find anywhere else and end up back there… I put my head in to realise that their outdoor area was packed! So we went in enjoyed some lush Oysters, cured meats, sweet potato gnocchi, pork belly flat bread wraps (DELICIOUS!), fresh roast new potatoes (huge portion though!)

Had a fantastic meal at the Saltern. Lots of delicious choices on the menu - three highlights for me on the day we went were the flatbread with borlotti beans and tomato & plum salsa, the crispy ox tongue with aioli and beets, and the confit fennel with feta and chilli. Washed down with some fine beers from a very extensive list. Super friendly and helpful staff too.

Great pub, good staff, amazing tapas style food. Can get a bit chilly in the garden outside - bring layers!
