What a brilliant little place! Full of hiraeth and happiness. We had a great walk on the nearby paths and worked up an appetite for some local lager and a fish ginger sandwich. Will definitely be back to walk and eat and drink on a less misty day!
We went for afternoon drink. Such a lovely character laid back atmosphere and outside space perfect for our children. We booked for evening meal the following day and were not disappointed, good food great value for money
31/05/2023 our first visit to this lovely place. The staff were very helpful and the bacon roll was one of the best ever! Had a pot of tea for two and a nice pint of local ale. All reasonably priced. Would like to come back to try the Welsh Cawl. Diawn Diolch.
Everything about this place is authentic. Even the laundry hanging over the fireplace and being onve besides the GWRailway makes this such an inviting place to visit. The food, drinks and atmosphere was really inviting, even on a cold spring day. Our doggo liked it too.
The surrounding area is of gorgeous sites and walks. No wonder it's classified as "outstanding beauty" - you won't be disappointed.
If you prefer a traditional Pub, this is the pub for you. Loads of atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, a great range of fabulous beers. BUT, the best bit of all was the Sunday Roast. It was quite simply the best roast dinner I've had in years! Definitely going back...
Excellent food, pulled pork was the best I've ever had!
Service was very good but don't go there in a rush. We weren't in a rush and had a lovely time but everything is fresh and they get busy so it can take a while for your food to arrive. It's worth the wait though.
Great choice of drinks too.
Excellent Sunday lunch and very generous portions. Loved all the extra included bits on the side to pick and choose from. Dog friendly in one part and made to feel very welcome. Very characterful with lots to look at.
Great little pub. Surly older bartender whom I believe is the landlady but the younger staff are excellent and far more welcoming. Aforementioned landlady treats her Welsh guests with red carpet treatment but the English barely get a grunt, which is odd as without the English visitors it would have a very limited clientele and dubious viability like many places out here and they would do well to remember that. That being said the beers are generally well kept but on occasions they need to use the correct sparklers for their beers. The butty when it is on is very good provided they've attached the correct sparkler which doesn't always happen.
A real old quirky pub that serves good food and good beer. Perfect.
This pub is a true local treasure. The food is great, so is the selection of local beers and ciders. But it is the atmosphere and locality that truly makes this place so special. It is like stepping back in time, situated in the Preselis with gorgeous surroundings. Great for walks, a dip in the quarry, then food and a pint.
Absolutely loved this place. Has proper character, with a history behind it. The food here was very generous, for which I had a basket meal. From saw dust on the floor, to traditional tools and artefacts hanging from the ceiling, it is a place definitely to visit to see something a bit more rustic and traditional. 5 stars
