We had one of our friends recommend Richmond Tea Rooms and we where not disappointed. We had tea yesterday which was delicious and the cakes are to die for. In fact we enjoyed ourselves so much we went for breakfast today, which was equally delicious. You couldn't fault the staff they were professional and very welcoming. A great experience that we will be doing again very soon.
First visit, enjoyed the Queen afternoon tea with a group of friends. The staff were all lovely + looked after us well. The food was delicious and we just about manges to eat it all! The atmosphere and layout was beautiful, the only thing we could’ve done with was a fan as we were sat in the window. Would definitely recommend A*
Everything was great; the service, the cakes & the Alice-In-Wonderland-like place! The ‘Victoria Sponge Cake’ with additional cream is definitely a must try
This is a wonderfully quaint tea room. The decor has got a unique charm. Service was great, really helpful and friendly. The food was amazing and the tea was the best. Will definitely be coming back. Recommended!
We visited Richmond Tea rooms for lunch yesterday before catching the train home, it's such a wonderful quirky tea rooms, the food is always excellent with big portions and the cake is to die for... if only we had one in Sheffield! Once again fabulous service from all the staff, we shall be back soon! :-)
One of my favourite places in Manchester, the highlight is the beautiful and eccentric decoration and the delicious, giant cakes!
It is the type of place that I would love to go as a child, it looks like a fantasy that came out of a XIXth-century book!
Best piece of cake I have had by far! We ordered a pot of china rose tea and a slice of Boston cream cake to share. Both were equally delicious. There was more than enough for two as the portions are very generous. The staff are super friendly and the setting is lovely - old, eccentric and laid back at the same time. It has a mad hatter's tea party theme to it, set in a beautiful old building. What else to say... We will definitely be coming back for lunch or a full afternoon tea!

Full of flavours and both crispy and smooth at the same time. This was my favourite part of the meal.
The staff are very friendly and professional, and seat you as you arrive. The food is both delicious and incredibly tempting, not just the counter of wonderful cakes and pastries which are prepared fresh each morning (and which would tempt even the staunchest dieter), but a good selection of both hot and cold meals, and daily specials. And of course, they offer delightful afternoon teas, complete with cute sandwiches, scones, and cakes, perfect for sharing with friends over a catch-up after shopping in the city.
We loved our trip to Richmond Tea Rooms and thought the food was very tasty, the staff were lovely despite being rushed off their feet and we loved all the little details like the ornate plates and lovely candle holders on the tables. We will definitely be going back to try some of the amazing looking cakes!
Richmond Tea Rooms is a crackers little oasis in the middle of a bustling city. Great lunch menu, even better cakes!
It has a lovely buzzing atmosphere and the décor is truly unique. We all really enjoyed our lunch there and would definitely return to try the pretty looking cakes.
Food was delicious, especially the scones. The staff was exceptional. I was, however, surprised that the tea pots didn’t allow you to remove the leaves so your second cup wouldn’t be over steeped. Cute place with an Alice in Wonderland theme.
Had a good time visiting this place again. Went on the weekend for breakfast.
Recommend to book a place through their website as it’s often packed on the weekend. It’s a quick and hassle-free process anyway.
Food’s awesome. Recommend to order French toast and Vanilla Chai (Special Blend Tea).
Atmosphere was great. Even though it’s packed, doesn’t feel like it’s noisy.
Staff was attentive as always.
This place is definitely a treat in Manchester Town. Loving the Alice in Wonderland theme. It is very nicely decorated and I love the old fashioned tea cups and plates. The food is very nice and the cakes too. I ordered an egg mayo sandwich and got a huge slice of chocolate cake, both were very nice. Richmond Tea Rooms were also brilliant in accommodating and understanding our dietary requirements and recommended what we could eat. Although the menu is not halal, there are still options, especially cake 😁 Definitely will be coming back.
Discovered Richmond Tea Rooms on the way back to our hotel, popped in next morning on the off chance of a table for breakfast and we were lucky enough to get one. Beautiful place and the staff are very welcoming, friendly and attentive. I had the classic breakfast which was delicious and my friend had the vegan breakfast which she said was the best vegan breakfast she has ever had out anywhere... ever!
Would definitely recommend and if ever in Manchester again we will be booking an afternoon tea... the cakes looked amazing and all made in house 😍
What a great place. Beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was fantastic. We sat in the enchanted garden downstairs. The food was very nice and the staff were lovely. Very popular place. Would highly recommend.
What a magical place! We had tea and cake on a Monday afternoon (without booking a table in advance) and everything was excellent - very attentive, kind service, great atmosphere, and the walnut coffee cake was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a special place - even if it’s on the pricy side.
I went for brunch with my partner, with the intention to have a proper British breakfast, the experience was marvelous. The food was glorious, service was super good, they were super friendly and helpful and the ambience was perfect.
Definitely going again 🫖

Fabulous atmosphere with an Alice in Wonderland themed decor. Hosts night events as well as afternoon tea. Offers gluten free options. Teas were wonderful. Staff were amazing and very attentive.
We made a reservation, but came in 20 minutes earlier because of the rain. No problem, we were welcomed by the very friendly staff to our table. We had the afternoon tea and it was so lovely. Great service, tasty food and the ambience was of course a plus. Would definitely recommend this place for a afternoon tea.
My daughter and myself visited The Richmond Tea Rooms for the first time. On arrival we had to wait a few mins whilst a member of staff checked to see where we were to be seated. We waited a while before our order was taken.
We enjoyed the experience of being there. Overall the experience was nice. We enjoyed the selection that was on offer.
When I asked for our treats to be boxed up, she did not box them up for us. I expected the lady to do this for us. Very disappointing as she did this for other customers.
