Best pub in Manchester. Had the best New Year’s Eve ever spent with family and friends. Great food and attentive service even on a very busy New Years eve!. The place was bouncing and full of atmosphere. Top class band playing great music. Dance floor was full all night.
Have been on other occasions and never been disappointed. Would highly recommend if you’re in Manchester.
Great pub with excellent changing choice of cask beers. Good hearty food on the menu too and not expensive. The Sunday Roast is worth the visit on its own but I’d have some beer too!!
Tony was great!!
Thanks for a wonderful meal with family at the Wharf. Tony was a great wait and ensured we got the correct puddings.... Very important!
Ate here with a couple of friends on a weekday afternoon. Excellent food. I'm not quite sure why people are complaining about the limited menu - there were more than enough options for the three of us. There are traditional pub food options as well as other choices. Very reasonable prices for the quality and portion sizes.
The space is huge, with both upstairs, downstairs and outdoor seating, bright and pleasant. Highly recommended.
We were a group of eight celebrating friendships developed during our training many years ago.The Wharf is right in the middle of Manchester’s historic canal area, close to transport links, but away from the distractions of shopping and traffic. It was a delight to enjoy drinks before and after our meal in the open air by the canal. The food served would not look out of place in a gastro pub but without the pretention associated with some of them. There is ample space to eat,the dining areas have character, with the whole place never likely to be confused with one of the catering behemoths.
Location, location, location.. The perfect place to be on one of those rare sunny days in Manchester!
This traditional pub restaurant serving ales, wine and delicious food does well to keep their standards up and it shows in how popular they are.
Another thing that I love about Wharf is that you can choose a more relaxed pub setting downstairs or for those of you, like me, who like a sit down with service the restaurant section upstairs.
Its hard not to feel that there is nowhere better to be in the world than England in the summer and all the relaxed people sprawled out on the grass enjoying the sunshine around the pub added to the atmosphere for me.
*Recommendation: Definitely a wonderful stop for a truly English experience of dining and day drinking with a festive atmosphere.
Today me and my partner visited the wharf we spotted it while we were visiting Mosi and are so thankful we did what a beautiful place! Outside there is a massive seating Area over looking a canal with a very nice water feature in the middle of the seating area very peaceful, it was too cold to sit outside but I would of loved too, we went in doors and were greeted by a very nice man who chatted to us at the bar and recommended different drinks as there are so many to chose from. We chose a table to sit at downstairs because to go upstairs there was a lot of steps and we had our little boy with us in a pram (I never saw a lift). The atmosphere is very relaxed with nice calm music playing in the background, we also spotted old board games lying around that you could play and free newspapers to read, a very nice touch! We sat down and the waiter came to take our food order almost straight away I chose the beef Yorkshire pudding sandwich and my other half had pan fried venison the place wasn't busy and we only had to wait no more than 15 minutes which is brilliant when you have a hungry 1yr old with you! The food was very nice and came out piping hot all staff very friendly couldn't recommend the place more! We will definitely be returning!
Shame on me - after living in Manchester for 3 years I have never been to The Wharf till yesterday! I have been to its next door neighbor Dukes a zillion times but never decided to check out this beautiful pub by the canal.
Right next to the canal, boats and the pretty bridge stands this gorgeous pub. It has a massive outdoor seating area, whoever thought Dukes 92 was big needs to come here. Thankfully yesterday was a nice sunny day because its almost a crime to not sit here and sip on a chilled pint of beer and puffing an e-cig (yeah I am trying to quit smoking). My companions ordered for a British meat platter, Sea Food Platter, Cheese board and Steak - the food literally was the best pub food I have had in my entire life (no kidding). The portions were massive too and I pecked on every dish so I can confidently say I am going to go back there at least 4 times to have a full plate of each. Once it started to get a but chilly (its Manchester) we went in - Whoa it was BIG and when I say that I mean it. Spread across two floors and divided into several rooms which included a bar that looks like a study with a full wall of books, which I can imagine could be a great place to spend a whole afternoon! They also allow dogs to come in the bar which gives such an amazing homely feel to the pub (ahh I love puppies and doggies). The staff were also friendly and very lovely, the girl who was serving me added lime cordial in my drink instead of a lemon (that is what I asked for) and she was willing to replace the whole drink and make me a new one (of-course I did not let her I am not one of those horrible customers :p). This place is a bit pricey I have to say that but you know what its worth it because of the whole experience. The crowd here is mostly young corporates, I would imagine all the folks working around the area come here for dinner and drinks all the time and why wouldn't they?
Verdict : I can't wait to go back again on a nice sunny day in Manchester to sit by the canal and have a massive British Meal Platter! nom nom
So I’ve been to The Wharf twice over the past few months and really enjoyed it both times. Situated in the Castlefield area of Manchester, snuggled on the redeveloped canals, The Wharf boasts a lovely placing by the water. Inside the decoration recalls Manchester’s industrial history and works well in the rustic setting it goes for. When it comes to food, The Wharf hosts an up end interpretation of the British classic pub menu, with burgers, steaks and a wonderful Sunday roast menu. The steak in particular was exceptional, a lovely piece of Rib - Eye cooked exactly right, rare. Prior to that we indulged on some scallops, which I were a little under seasoned but can’t complain. The was all being washed down with a lovely glass of Malbec, and finalised with a wonderful sticky toffee pudding. I would definitely recommend the Wharf, a lovely establishment, with brilliant drinking capabilities and dining facilities, although as we enter the winter months it may lose some of it’s appeal; the outside seating area by the water was a stunner! However, the dining remains inside and that is hard to turn down regardless of the weather outside!
It's such a lovely pub with a country vibe, in the heart of Manchester. We sat outside to eat, and it was just perfect. The inside is also absolutely lovely. The food was 6 great value. I would highly recommend the wharf and will definitely be returning
What a belter,,
Best place to go for a sunny pint on a Friday afternoon..
Highly recommended!!
Buyers beware,,, it may be so busy that you might not get a seat...
Loved the atmosphere, great cocktails too..thanks xx
Went on a date with a girl here and went well..
Found this place when doing the Manchester Treasure Hunt, and it was a recommended stop off point after the 10th clue (out of 15). Quite busy, nice views of the canals. Lots of drink options inside, wide bar you could queue along. Plenty of tables inside, downstairs and upstairs. Dogs are allowed inside. Staff were polite and friendly, quite quick service despite the crowds.
Good pub but has developed some "unique" pricing these days. It's a stunning venue with fantastic service but I would dare to say its over priced.
Would still visit again, but definitely think there are question marks against the pricing of the entire menu.
Excellent pub in a great location with a cozy atmosphere, just a shame it was raining as the outdoor area has great views over the canal. I recommend having the wild boar pie with the cider gravy, very tasty👌
The taste of the food is amazing. But unfortunately are the portions really small. My main dish (fish with tortellini) was more like a starter. Next time I would choose something with crisps, that I don't feel hungry afterwards.
The service and location is lovely.
The Wharf in Castlefield is undoubtedly one of the best pubs in Manchester. From the moment you step in, you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub is well-maintained, with a high standard of cleanliness that contributes to its pleasant ambiance.
The staff at The Wharf are friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming environment for guests. Their knowledge and passion for their craft are evident as they offer excellent service and recommendations, ensuring that your visit is memorable and enjoyable.
One of the standout features of The Wharf is the incredible food. The menu boasts a variety of delicious dishes that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. Each dish is prepared with care and attention to detail, resulting in flavors that are both satisfying and memorable.
Having visited The Wharf on multiple occasions, I can confidently say that they consistently maintain their high standards. Whether it's the quality of their food, the cleanliness of the establishment, or the friendly service, they always strive to provide an exceptional experience.
Overall, The Wharf in Castlefield is a gem of a pub. With its great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delectable food, it is a go-to destination for a memorable dining experience in Manchester.
We visited on the Sunday of the half marathon. It was extremely busy - almost a bit too busy as it just let the service down a bit. However, not the staffs fault. The food was still amazing, and I’ll definitely return for another Sunday roast! They are very generous with portion sizes - beware lol!
Great place to eat, inside or out, good food, great location with views of canal barges, Victorian architecture, with a backdrop of a modern cityscape
