A Great Town Center Pub
This is a proper pub that serves good ale. The staff were friendly. The place has the feel of an old town boozer. Unspoilt and atmospheric.
I visited the City Arms again with friends and enjoyed another great night in my favourite pub in Manchester...
We love this pub... it can be found near the Town Hall on a back street (Kennedy Street) behind the Waterhouse Wetherspoons pub and next to The Vine pub... about a two min walk from St Peter's Square Metrolink station...
The City Arms is a traditional pub with two rooms and wooden floors... the front room has a large space to stand in front of the bar area, whereas the back room has plenty of seats & tables...
For real ale lovers there are about eight handpumps that usually serve Titanic Plum Porter, Moorhouses & Pendle ales, plus upto six changing cask ales... an excellent choice of ales can always be found here, along with the usual other drinking options for those who prefer other drinks...
Can get busy at lunchtimes and weekend evenings but well worth seeking out this wonderful real ale boozer - well worth a visit...
Cracking boozer in Manchester City centre. Large selection of ale including gluten and vegan options. 2 main rooms both with a nice ambience for drinking. Small outside area at back which is sheltered. Very good service behind the bar. Sells jumbo packs of midland pork scratchings for £2. Highly recommended is this pub 🍻 🐷
Superb side street traditional style pub in Manchester City Centre, offering a great selection of cask ales and a few keg in lovely condition.
As you can see from the photos, the range of styles on cask - all of the board is cask except from the bottom two, and is constantly rotating - is very varied and well balanced from a DDH Pale, bitter, mild to porter - and the breweries they are supplied from are absolutely top notch.
I paid £5.50 for a pint of the Brew York DDH Pale, which was served in the correct glass with a lovely head.
Staff are friendly, and the atmosphere was good with a nice splattering of couples and groups in on a Monday lunchtime.
Definitely one for ale lovers to seek out.
I am a born and bred Mancunian. Yet this was the first time I visited the City Arms. A little gem, this Is one of the few pubs to resist change and retain its identity.
A good range of beers and other drinks are available. Friendly service, a good place to drop in and wet your whistle.
For fans of old pubs, ale, pies and atmosphere this is a winner. Great gin selection, lovely atmosphere, excellent service. 8 handpumps, scampi fries and pork scratchings. Central Manchester but just off the beaten track.
It's a really nice pub. Quite small but somewhere where you would go for a good pint and a quiet chat
Great old school pub with a really good selection of ales, quirky and a nice atmosphere
This pub is a quality boozer! It has some great ales both for traditional beer drinkers and for more modern style drinkers. Definitely worth a visit.
A great hidden gem in the heart of Manchester - craft beers lagers ales - hard to find Budvar and others. Space to sit and chop it up with the fisherman of Manchester. Really love this place
What a find, and right in the centre of the city! If you like proper old pubs with a proper old atmosphere, and staff who genuinely like working there, City Arms is for you. Titanic Plum Porter virgin here. I might move to Manchester 🤔
