Excellent attention, ambiance and service. I stayed in a room with great mobility aids. A fire alarm went off during the night (a guest's fault, but also proving they have a good emergency system) and the hotel provided free breakfasts (with delicious freshly-baked pastries) and late check-outs so we could rest. Great place to stay, rest and enjoy.

Booked the Abel Heywood for group function at very short notice. The team are very communicative and supported us booking for 10 to 15 of various team members. It had a lively atmosphere when we turned up with impending live music to boot. Drinks were ordered and food order taken. Only gripe was menu changed and spam fritters taken off the menu. Note it be great as a lunchtime special spam fritter, fried egg chips and beans..harking back to school days. The team ordered an assortment of burgers and sandwiches. The steak looked inviting at the price but it wasn't a sit down type of gathering. The night went well with the decline into shots baby Gunness. But thoroughly enjoyed by the team and great staff shout out to Meg, Elliot, Toby and Alex plus the kitchen! Worthy pub for gatherings and a return for meal.

Only had drinks this time.
But we've eaten here on several occasions.
Good standard of pub food.
Great selection of beers and a historical feel.
Staff are friendly. And you can take your dog.
An update on decor is on the way as well.

I visited this establishment for a Sunday roast and was thoroughly impressed. Opting for the mixed platter for two, I found it to be the finest example of such a meal in Manchester. For aficionados of Sunday roasts and a meat-centric dining experience, I highly recommend this venue. It unequivocally deserves a five-star rating.

Beer selection was a bit weak. Selection of hydes beers which were very reasonably prices especially with the 50p off cask ales on a Monday (3.35 for a pint of dark ruby!). Function room upstairs was good for our event with good privacy but access to the bar.

We stayed at abel heywood for just a night while on our trip to lake district.
A couple of important observations .....first the good -
1. The location is so good.......there were good cafes nearby and the place as such located in a lovely location.......
2. Abel heywood pub is very popular ...
3. Now the not so pleasant..... We reached the hotel pretty late - around 10:30 pm or later ...The staff who checked us in had no clue about where we should park. All he could he had to say was that the parking next to us is expensive don't park here ..go to a different parking ...he had no clue what the charges there were !!!...we were so tired after all the travelling......this hunt for car park took us another 30 minutes .....
4. The hotel room was smallish...we two couldn't open our suitcases at the same time ......that was a challenge !....the room was really cosy and comfortable. We had a good nights rest and were recharged for taking on the new day .....

EXCELLENT FOOD, AMAZING SERVICE, GORGEOUS LOCATION. My parents and I when to Abel Heywood for my birthday meal. We had three roasts which I can’t fault, the portion size and food quality and the beer & wine selection was great. Couldn’t recommend comment more :)

I organised a group meet up here and the venue and staff were exceptional.
Lydia looked after us and was so attentive, we couldn't have asked for more!

Not enough stars to describe this place. Booked the suite for my wife’s birthday. She was unwell when we got there. No problem they arranged meals in room along with flowers and a birthday cake on the house. Lovely room food and fantastic staff. Thanks so much

Had drinks followed by a wonderful Sunday lunch here with my daughter and partner. Top quality food and exceptional service from Will at the bar. Would highly recommend.

It is not too far from restaurants, other pubs, shops and public transport, a nice variety of drinks to pick from, the tables near the toilet stairs, as you can imagine, can be overcome by the smell of the lavatories, but seating was quite comfortable with a cool ambience from the decor and lighting.

I really like this place as a pub. Today me and a friend went for food and got the fish sharing platter (25 quid). It came and was tasty but certainly not worth the amount of money charged. I gave feedback to the member of staff who cleared the plates who agreed with me that the portions were small and probably not worth the money given that we both could have roast beef with all the trimmings for a pound extra. He didn't offer any kind of gesture as a response though. I made the same comment to a second member of staff who again agreed that the portion received was not great value. He then walked off thanking us for the feedback. We left dumbfounded. ER cheers guys. The meal was probably worth around 16 quid and a starter portion for 2 not a main. We are now in Cane and Grain for our main. N.B. Neither of us are greedy or overweight.

After not wanting to queue up for 40 mins plus at usual Manchester breakfast joints we ventured over to the Abel where we had previously only had drinks. Well what can u say... what a gem!!. First off very clean as usual with very attentive friendly staff
The breakfast options arent too numerous to make choosing complicated but enough to be interesting. I opted for the Manc Madame whilst Mrs T went for the full English. I can honestly say these were the best breakfasts we have had in the city centre. Great quality ingredients and more than enough to fill you up.
The bloody mary i had with mine was a perfectly spiced accompaniment whist the mimosa got the thumbs up from the wife.
Will we be returning? Simple.. Yes we will. We just hope the cat isnt let out the bag and we have to queue for undoubtedly Manchesters finest breakfast next time.

Fab meal that I won in their Christmas advent competition. Amazing steak, wonderful puddings and the wine was excellent. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely superb food, 9 of us went for a meal yesterday, everyone’s food was delicious, the service was great. I had Steak Frites and it was amazing. Oh yes I highly recommend the Manchester Tart 😍. Will definitely visit again.

Really enjoyed spending an hour in Abel Heywood with my friend Chris yesterday. It was busy, we waited for a seat; but there was a good and happy atmosphere, the service was good, the beer was spot-on and the toilets were clean. We hadn't planned to go there, we just wanted a beer, but I'd definitely go back and I'd recommend it as a place to go in Manchester.

Came with my friend on Sunday after it had been recommended to her by work colleagues & certainly didn't disappoint! The Sunday roast was to die for! The bar staff were friendly & helpful & the atmosphere was cozy. Will definitely eat here again

Great place booked the deluxe suite Alex the manager couldn’t do enough, staff very friendly. My only gripe is that I paid for a late checkout but was rudely awakened by the cleaning grinch’s dulset tones to hustle me out !! Opened the door after her contestant bin bag rustle hussle to attitude . However the lady on reception kindly refunded my late checkout charge and offered us a deal for when we next stay. I was happy and would certainly stay again

We stayed here from birmingham and the staff couldn't of been more helpful or friendly. The food was gorgeous and the man that served us was approachable and friendly.
Great room too! Clean and spacious! Defo worth the money. Will be booking up again soon.
Highly recommended!

Food lovely and dining staff were great, shame about the staff in the bar pulling a fast one taking drinks off the table to get you back at the bar. Had to pull staff to get my drink back.
Went to the bar to get a round in and asked for the Manager who told me its my responsibility to stay at the table and watch my drink 1. I was at the table 2. The drink was infront of me and had to ask for it back 3. It was half full. Rude!

Brought my very southern partner to Manchester for her birthday last year and after finding this place she's fell in love with both. We've stopped in Abel 3 times over the last 2 years, we travel from Cheltenham just to spend time in the northern quarter and Abel Haywood. Couldn't recommend it enough. Great beer, great food, well decorated

Quaint, friendly, charming and ideally located for the city centre. The food was also excellent. Highly recommend the vegetarian pie with feta cheese and squash!

Itson Voucher<br/><br/>Lovely gin afternoon tea. The food was so tasty (and filling) and the gin tea pots were fruity and delicious. The only thing that let it down a bit for us, was the very long wait from getting the drinks until the food arrived.

I loved the non-meat pie I ordered and the burger my husband ordered was also very delicious. The service was prompt and the food was quality and filling. The eclectic atmosphere doesn’t hurt, either.
