After not wanting to queue up for 40 mins plus at usual Manchester breakfast joints we ventured over to the Abel where we had previously only had drinks. Well what can u say... what a gem!!. First off very clean as usual with very attentive friendly staff
The breakfast options arent too numerous to make choosing complicated but enough to be interesting. I opted for the Manc Madame whilst Mrs T went for the full English. I can honestly say these were the best breakfasts we have had in the city centre. Great quality ingredients and more than enough to fill you up.
The bloody mary i had with mine was a perfectly spiced accompaniment whist the mimosa got the thumbs up from the wife.
Will we be returning? Simple.. Yes we will. We just hope the cat isnt let out the bag and we have to queue for undoubtedly Manchesters finest breakfast next time.
Fab meal that I won in their Christmas advent competition. Amazing steak, wonderful puddings and the wine was excellent. Definitely recommend.

Lovely gin afternoon tea. The food was so tasty (and filling) and the gin tea pots were fruity and delicious. The only thing that let it down a bit for us, was the very long wait from getting the drinks until the food arrived.
I loved the non-meat pie I ordered and the burger my husband ordered was also very delicious. The service was prompt and the food was quality and filling. The eclectic atmosphere doesn’t hurt, either.
Fantastic hotel in the northern quarter. Room was a good size. Bed really comfortable. Everything we needed.
The full English breakfast arrived piping hot too and cooked to perfection.
Will definitely be returning and would 100% recommend to family and friends
A stylish and compact pub/hotel in Manchester city centre. Super convenient location with Arndale a three minute walk away and a car park by its doorstep.
The check in was super easy with the reception near one of the entrances. The breakfast and in/out process was well explained. I booked a double room with breakfast and the room size was reasonable and the room itself was comfortable. However we were given an accessible room designed for a disable person so the bathroom facilities was not convenient for us at all. The sink was too low down and the toilet awkward to use. The whole bathroom felt like a hospital.
Also, there was no lighting available on one side of the bed and the kettle was difficult to fill using the sink. The TV, tea and coffee facilities were all good. Heating was highly efficient and kept us warm all through the night.
There is a continuous loud extractor fan noise all the time until 11pm which so assume is the actual kitchen downstairs. If you intend to stay in the room then make sure you take that into account.
The breakfast was cooked with good quality ingredients but I did have a bit of egg shell in mine. The quality and quantity of tea was good.

I loved the room, it was separated in two sections, not with a door but very well separated. That meant when our kids were sleeping, we could have a drink 🍷 talk, and relax :)
The large window 🪟 allowed stream of fresh air, and he room was super quiet. Beds comfort, the coffee ☕ was great And they provided lots of milk for tea/coffee - much more than we were used in other hotels.
The food was spectacular too.
Highly recommended - we would def return.
We had the deluxe suit room.
Brilliant stay at the Abel Heywood. Good location, right next to the Arndale. Room was great, bed super comfortable. All amenities in the room. Pub downstairs was great value and packed even though a midweek. Breakfast was superb. Service throughout the hotel and pub was excellent. Overall amazing value here.
We enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and well equipped. Good location for the Arena. We had breakfast and it was good. Nice friendly staff. We will use again
This should be two reviews really as we stayed in the hotel & ate & drank in the pub downstairs.
But I don’t know how to do that here.
So we stayed here for a gig at nearby Band on the Wall venue, arrived at 7.00pm, left at 9.00am the following morning.
Our room was small but comfortable, clean & the bed & shower were both good. Is recommend this for a weekend break or to see a band.
The pub had a decent but not great selection of beer. Staff were friendly & efficient. We ate there & the chicken pie for two was really good and extremely good value.
A large, friendly pub with an excellent food menu. We went for Sunday lunch and started with calamari and spiced hummus both of which were excellent, then moved onto the sharing Sunday platter which was both huge and superb. Beef, turkey, chicken, pork, boiled and roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds, sugar snap peas, mashed carrots, stuffing, pigs in blankets... I've probably missed off a few bits too! Highly recommended.
Superb atmosphere and staff wonderful drinks with friends and family. We had Sunday lunch share platter looks fantastic when delivered and is so big its should be called challenge platter. Dinner itself was very nice and the gravy very delightfully warming as it wasn’t the warmest of summer days.
Enjoyed a few drinks here on a chilled Thursday afternoon. Been here several times and will definitely be returning again. Drinks are competitively priced with cocktails 2 for £12.
Great place to meet up with people. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff excellent. Make the best expresso martini. Food was good and reasonable priced too
