Absolutely loved my gluten free breakfast here! Really accommodating, gluten free menu (not everywhere has this) and the chef was extra careful and they discussed my allergy with me. Excellent food, 100% will be coming back
Great food, great beer, great people. I was looking for a vegan friendly beer here a long time ago and the staff were so helpful. Definitely a go to plac for me!
Having moved to Chorlton when I first got back from London, and then later moving to Whalley Range, The Beagle has quickly become a firm favourite of mine. Its casual atmosphere and central location make it perfect for an after work supper. The menu is eclectic focusing on good value Mexican comfort food.
Overall we felt the food at The Beagle was quite a triumph and we will definitely be returning. I spent a lot of time on Sunday when I next saw Jeni talking about this meal and have recommended the place to a lot of people since and will continue to do so. At the time we said we thought the food might have been a few quid too expensive but writing about it now and looking back, what we were served was obviously of a really good quality and actually worth the money. The midweek menu is good value so we will make sure we head on over for that.
Will I go back to The Beagle? Absolutely yes! Even if only to try the famous WH Frost steaks. The Beagle is an excellent eatery and the fixed menu offers great value for money. I would have paid the per-head price for the main course alone.
My favourite of the night were the Fish Tacos, Mrs B really liked the chicken wings which she declared were "better than others we've had recently as they weren't over spiced."
...a more traditional type pub rather than trendy bar that you may be used to in Chorlton. It is warm, homely and has some amazing ales on draught. It is the sort of place you can come with a group of friends after a long
After a couple of excellent craft beers, something The Beagle does very well our food began to arrive. Starting with ‘Beef N Beans Chimichanga’. Chimichangas are basically deep fried burritos, they’re more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, much heavier than a burrito but very tasty and comforting. This was a particularly good one, packed full of shredded beef, refried beans and salad.
Thanks for a great feed and top beers. Already looking to return for beer and bar snacks.
The staff at The Beagle are very knowledgeable about their beers and after a short discussion I was recommended the 3 Fonteinen. It proved to be a great choice – it poured a cloudy deep burnt orange and had a good sour kick which went well with most of the food I had ordered and also with the complimentary bread, butter and dripping.
I came here with a group of friends one rainy Sunday (when is it ever not) lunchtime. We were all starving and the uber friendly waitress was quick to tell us the day's menu.
All of it was pretty standard pub fare but I must say, I really enjoyed the steak pie I had. The portion was the perfect size for my hangover and came with a healthy serving of very moreish fries.
The place had only just opened and so it was empty which did nothing to boost the post-Halloween party atmosphere from which both it and the waitress seemed to be suffering heavily.
I would probably go back, mainly for the laid back feel and the locally-brewed beers.
We went in for a drink as we'd never been in before, the weather was mixed so we had a couple of drinks and we kept on getting a waft of pizza, so we decided to check them out, they were not all your regular toppings but we decided to have the cheese and onion pie one which was recommended by one of the staff, its was amazing, the service was great too and we will be back at some point
The best pizza in Manchester. Honestly it’s the best. Don’t buy it by the slice you have to get a whole one fresh, but nowhere else is as good as this, nowhere I’ve eaten locally, nowhere I’ve eaten in Manchester, nowhere I’ve eaten in Italy. Honestly scarcely a day has gone by when I haven’t thought about how good this pizza is. Can’t wait to go back.
29/07/23: Red Willow Brewery: Breakfast Stout 5.6%, Kirkstall Brewery: Apricot sour 4.5% and Northern Monk Brewery: Guava Have Faith, guava hazy pale ale 4%
08/10/22: been here many times on the Chorlton Ale Trails, but not for quite some time. Previously known as Ostara, Charango, Scotts Hill and now The Beagle. I've frequented Chorlton from as far back as the last 1980's. In a recent request asking if they were still dog friendly, they replied "please bring dogs". Definitely dog friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Great, fantastic open plan lower tier area, glass fronted, airy and very relaxing. Fantastic choice of craft ales and were more than helpful in suggesting and giving tasters of new brews. They also boast Nells Pizza. It's delicious, although we opted for one slice after a large breakfast (elsewhere) as opposed to the 14 or 22 inch pizzas they also offer. The 'Do you like Roni Honey' was amazing! N'duja and pepperonifrom Cobble Lane, tomato sauce, mozzarella and finished with chilli honey and parmasan.
A nuanced and alternative venue with a homely decor.
A wide selection of drinks with a variety of music in a comfortable environment, and a blissful atmosphere. The type of place that exemplifies the bohemian and naturalistic sights and vibe of Chorlton.
Came with friends for the 50% off pizza deal that Nell's is doing in January.
Nice place with friendly staff.
We ordered some pizza when we first arrived, which came out promptly and were tasty. The 22" pizzas are absolutely huge so would recommend sharing this between a few of you!
We ordered a third pizza and more drinks but due to it being quite busy that night it took a long time to order at the bar, and then both food and drinks took a while to come out.
Think the overall experience would have been better if we could have ordered pizza via the app too, and if they had all their drinks on the app (some were on their paper menu but not on the app so you had to go up to order anyway).
Went for the massive 22 inch pizzas provided by Nells, with 50% off in January it's hard to resist. Decent boozer with a vast array of beers and ales and super friendly staff.
Amazing pizzas, beers and great staff. Highly recommend
Pizza was lovely, margaritas were great too. Went on the bank holiday so it was quite busy but will certainly go back!
First time I've had Nell's pizza at the Beagle. Been here before when it was doing burritos etc and was always good. The pizzas are huge and we shared a 22" between 3 of us. We had one half meat and honey and the other with burrata on it. It's was delicious and plenty of toppings. Definitely go back and try some other flavours.
My partner took me here a few weeks ago and it has some of the most innovative vegan food I've tried in the Greater Manchester area. A particularly favourite being the oyster mushroom wings. They were 10/10 and I can't wait to go back and try the rest of their extensive vegan range.
