Great food, chaotic service

Always had excellent food from Philpotts, there is tonnes of choice too, including hot and cold sandwiches and salads, jacket potatoes and hot specials.

The atmosphere is always good too and the presentation of the staff/food/menus always appealing.

The service is very chaotic, it’s very difficult to understand where to queue and who is waiting for their food/has been served. The tickets for the salads that you take to the till also aren’t very intuitive.

It’s expensive, but worth it for the quality of food.

Confusing queuing system people stood everywhere. Friendly staff but the Jacket potato with cheese, beans and coleslaw was just lovely.

I arrived at this store portland Street last week, it was so clean and the staff where very helpful. I ordered a breakfast and also a couple of cakes. Well I will tell u this food tantalise my taste buds. In all the years of trying food form various Manchester based establishments, it was this establish which had the desired effect on my tummy. Yum yum get in my tummy that food was so yummy. I am now a regular customer, I'm set for life, the staff know how to make a great breakfast, u should be so proud that u have great staff. 5 stars ✨

They do great food at a really reasonable price. Sandwich and a soup for £4.5 is great when you consider the quality. They are friendly here and the staff seem to stick around for a long time, so I think it is probably a good place. This trip I had a cheese sandwich and mushroom soup, both nice, both free as I had a card from my boyfriend's frequent visits.

I love it here, every time I pass by I have to buy dinner even if it’s only 9am. Bit expensive but totally worth the price, staff are friendly and sone of the fillings are great. I like the Pastrami and Jalapeño it’s such a great combination.

Really nice salads but the queuing system is confusing and the menu is not above the right counter. You have to queue for food then to pay which can annoy people. Worth it though but get there before the rush.

Really great branch to the rather large chain. The staff make it very special and add that northern touch to their customer service. Food is great too, especially their breakfast sandwiches. Good value for money and high quality ingredients, all of which are on display.

Generally a nice place if not a bit over priced. Staff are very friendly. I find the soups hit and miss. I love the pea n ham soup but in recent weeks they have changed it to pea n bacon and its ok. They also do a tomato and sausage, which again is either bang on or bang average. Had a bacon butty from here and the bacon was old. Starting to get a bit hit and miss for me. Serves me right for not making my own dinner.

Plenty of options for lunch here from noodles and salads to cold and hot carvery rolls. Lunch times are very busy so I would recommend going before 1 or after 2(although there might not be much left). Staff are friendly and polite too.

Sir Philip Potts has done some great things for Manchester (0161). Bringing a speedy service, quality and bargain prices. Where else can you get a take-away 7 piece breakfast for £3.50 in the city centre. (No McDonalds doesn't count). The offerings can vary a little day to day due to limited supplied during covid. But they always offer a solid service.
