4.5 Star. The location is very convenient, city center location. The decor is nice. Staff is very nice.
I like the soup, rich with tomato 🍅 and smell good with the herbs 🌿. Just a small recommendation, the butter is far too much and a waste, can consider small portion for butter with soup, with refill if needed.
Rib eye steak is well cooked. Unfortunately it doesn’t come with salt or rose salt, that’s why deduct for 0.5 point. Mushroom is good, and I like the source comes with the veggie. To be honest this is a little bit too much for one person.
Haven’t order any alcoholic drinks, but definitely will try next time.
An excellent Nicholson's pub in a beautiful old bank building. First visited with Martin Meerkat back in 1996 when several such bank conversions were taking place in the area. Used to pop in to see Jeff and the footie results. Excellent real ale but at city centre prices..£5+. Good food but also fairly expensive at £15+ for a main. There is a pie meal deal with a pint at certain times.
A gem of a pub. Really nice interior with a good atmosphere. Excellent choice of real ales and lagers. I was also very impressed with the choices of gins on offer. The bar staff were also very knowledgeable of all aspects of what they were serving. Would definitely return.
Fantastic food
Super service friendly staff
Very helpful with food choices
Thanks
Food was really tasty, we were a party of 4 and everyone said their food was excellent. No complaints at all and good for the price too. Only downside, kitchen closes quite early (8.30pm I think it was) so our starters came out along with the mains and sides, would’ve have preferred them to be spaced out, but that’s the only niggle.
Staff very friendly and helpful, would go again
Stopped in for a pint while we waited for reservations at a nearby restaurant. Good selection of real ales, but not much choice for darker ales. Although the double porter that was on, was very nice.
Accepted a booking for 10 last minute. Very grateful and fantastic food. Staff were top notch. One of the party fainted (long day...) and the staff looked after him very well. Can't knock anything about the experience. Will definitely visit again. Thank you!
A place I've frequented many times. Always a great selection of craft ales. My previous Google Review has gone amiss. This time we drank St. Austell Brewery: Tribute Cornish pale and Northern Monk Brewery: Eternal session pale!
Great bar to know about. The food is a cut above many other similar venues.
Excellent bar to call into if loud music is not your scene. Can get very busy on weekends/match days other than that it's one of the places to go if you fancy a good meal or chat where you can hear each other and that's the beauty of the place. I would definitely recommend if that's what your looking for. Great range of beers/ food excellent bar staff no faults here. On top of that a historic building to admire inside and outside well worth a visit.
