A great coffee shop in Manchester! I was visiting for the weekend and looking for a place for a late breakfast. At 11 am on a Saturday, they weren't too packed and even if they were this place is huge so there is plenty of room to sit down and enjoy!
What I ordered: I got a cappuccino and a falafel salad. The cappuccino was huge! The salad was filling and came w hummus, guacamole, and a veggie mix! I loved it!
Prices were reasonable for what you get!
Another bonus- there were outlets next to all of the booths! Nice.
I would highly recommend this place!
TL;DR - Great coffee shop on the edge of the village.
This corner unit has changed hands a few times over the years, so it's nice to see it having a bit of stability under the current owners. Esquire's is a chain, but I'm not sure many people will realise that because they don't have anywhere near the number of stores of some other chains. That said, it's got the feeling of an independent coffee shop.
I've been here a few times now and the coffee is always good. There's a decent selection of food and drink on display and the service is prompt and friendly. Contactless payments with no minimum spend is always a bonus in my books too!
We also came here once for lunch and had a soup and a sandwich each. Both were good but not out of this world, so my gut reaction would be that this place is better for drinks than food. That said, there were a LOT of people in enjoying brunch at the weekend so maybe they knew something we didn't and we just ordered the wrong thing off the menu!
Location is great - very convenient for both the gay village and the University of Manchester's north campus.
Amazing food!!!! We came in for coffee and a quick bite but could not resist the temptation to try their full English breakfast and the vegetarian counterpart! Both choices were absolutely amazing. Fresh and cooked to perfection. The taste was delicious and the presentation was superb. Definitely should try their food and coffee when you are in the city. They have great choices and phenomenal customer service.
A review about a leather chair. Me and the man( 3 year old son) came in for some lunch. I'm still not up on the way things work over here.(2 weeks into a move from Philly) I forgot to get a table first. The nice barista asks for a table number so he knows where to deliver the order. The man orders a cinnamon bun and I a rump roast sandwich from the deli. A quick scan around I randomly pick a table. "16" I say. We take our seats. I'll try to put into word how comfortable these simple atomic era looking leather chairs were. Relaxing and a pleaser to take the pressure off my feet. I don't want to leave. The simple brown leather is a nice look and goes well with the simple yet attractive interior of Esquire. Unfortunately if it's busy you might be out of luck to try one of these relaxing beauties. There are only 3 in the store. If you have made it this far into the review, I give you credit for sticking it out. The coffee food and service were all great. A nice stop during our day. One of the guys that work here just gave the man a free muffin. Thanks guys.
After wandering around the village and stinking next to Alan Turning, this is a great place to get a late morning Covfefe while dodging the rain.
Bright and airy, lots of space (with plug sockets) and friendly cafe, you can chat with friends or watch the world go by though the big windows and glass door.
You can even come back for lunch with many options and great tasting and strange smoothies.
A place to visit again and drag others too.
Lovely quiet cafe, great for working on your laptop. Vegan & gluten free options available, even bread. Nice staff.
Good coffee, decent lunch hot box, halal chicken, not the best/friendliest service (also vegan brownies need some work) but would recommend trying
Lovely food and drinks, a great central location, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Also prices were not bad - £6.50 for eggs royale with perfectly poached eggs - so a great chef too!
It's very nice place for lunch. Grilled chicken salad is delicious! There is a great, relaxed & homely atmosphere!
Nice English breakfast.
Nice coffee.
Friendly staff. .
Price is fine.
Fantastic location.
Highly recommended!
Quiet nice place for a good breakfast. Nice friendly service, fresh bio food. Sweet and salty food.
Amazing food, one of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time, and at a great price. Unbeatable service with a smile, and in my short time here Lewis and Lucy checked in on me several times with the biggest grins.
The range of cakes is too good to resist, and Kyle the manager was everywhere on the till, in the kitchen while chatting and joking with customers. Only popped in for a quick coffee and stayed for a full meal. Will definitely visit again, as should you!!
The coffee and food tast amazing and the service is outstanding. Try it!!
Great service and relaxing atmosphere. The quality of food is always excellent when I visit. We had salmon bagel and a chicken/basil baguette warmed up for lunch-recommended. I was too late to get the breakfast bagel so must drop earlier to try this.
