New Wa Toy

We wanted so much for Wa Toy to be great, but, they clearly have some challenges. The food was Terrific, the restaurant was FREEZING! This was Feb 26, 2022. Portable electric heaters everywhere and the temp still had to be about 40 degrees in the dining room. Atmosphere, the host sits us at a table with a burned out light bulb above (not occurring to him that we might like to read the menu and see our food). Big screen TV, if I wanted to take my family to a sports bar I would have. Get rid of the screen and play some nice music so family's can interact or couples can go on a nice date (not a smart move). I will have to guess that there is no budget to maintain the place so sadly they are on the way out.

Food is super fresh, even fried rice. The best chicken chowmein that I've had in new england. My husband loves the generals chicken and likes that he can choose the spiciness. A couple things I didn't like: first, the spring rolls aren't good. They have a weird smell and pretty much no flavor so that was a waste of 8 bucks. Second, I got the chicken chowmein combo dinner and it leaked all over everything in the bag making anything fried soggy. A little more expensive than other places but worth it. And if you get a combo dinner you get 2 sides inside of 1 like other places. They don't deliver on Monday to Wednesday. They don't participate in door dash but you can still order through door dash and pay a $5.99 delivery fee. The entrees are also about $2 more if you use door dash.

Born in Pinardville and saw the development of Wa Toy as I lived next door and would get food twice a week, under John's management. Left in 1968 for 30 years in the Army, but would eat there several times a year on visits and still do. I lived in SF, Seattle, NYC area, visited Taiwan and lived in Korea for 25 years and have eaten so much Chinese food, and still at 73, Wa Toy is in my Top 5 places.
