So so disappointing. This used to be an iconic location with loads of atmosphere, a truly cosy, well run iconic location. Today its sterile with loud radio pop music, sterile lighting and a slot machine. Charmless barmaid bordering on rude. The beer was flat too. Avoid.
Friendly and a nice pint of Guinness , I liked the key for the toilet so kept clean and perfectly situated on the platform . Sandwiches available but I was just changing trains so didn’t eat .
Every likes the Manningtree Station buffet. Good breakfast choices, a nice cup of tea, daily papers, fast and friendly service. I will get off my train from Harwich and take a later service just to visit here.

When I catch my early train I always call for a coffee, never been disappointed great Coffee.
