I arrived as a visitor from Plymouth to play at the Sunday afternoon folk session. I was immediately impressed with the warm welcome I received. The landlord was excellent at organising the venue shifting furniture etc at the same time providing cheerful banter. The real ale was wonderfully kept (I had a few tastings to check!). This would be a regular haunt if it were down the road but a little far from my home patch!
the roast was lovely. I had a great roast partridge and my partner had beef.
The landlord (Mark) was very welcoming.
the bar is a "no mobile zone" so no one at the bar can use the phone.
so very much like back in the days!
staff were really helpful and friendly!
Lovely place. Took our three year old and was welcomed with open arms. Landlord was really friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The food was absolutely amazing three different meals, the best Chilli hubby has ever had!!!!
Under New Management.
This quaint village pub has undergone many transformations over time .
The New Landlord is Polite, cheery and fun to be around.
This Freehold has Ales which are mixed with interesting and delightful choices, changed to keep the pallet tingling.
The food is hearty and fulfilling. Oak beamed roof bar, with wood burner in an old original beamed fireplace. The restaurant area is also beamed with wooden tables and chairs.
Although still early in this latest chapter, a positive foot forward has been achieved, bringing this public house back to a fun and charming village asset.
Medium car park at rear, along with road parking.
I went to play darts there last night, first time ever going in. The staff were friendly, and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. I decided to try the Czech beer they had on tap, it was really quite nice. They do food although I didn't check the menu. The dart board is good although a little cramped with the low ceiling. They have a TV which I watched the women's World Cup match on. All in all I had a very pleasant night.
There's an English/irish acoustic inztrumental folk session on the 4th Sunday of every month 7:30-10:30pm. Every 2nd Sunday there is a folk song session at the same time. I belive there's live jazz on too, but I'm not sure if that's a regular scheduled thing - check their website or call them to find out.
I went to a wedding reception here. The staff seemed really nice. The landlord seemed to be really helpful. I don't drink booze so can't comment on the beer but they had a selection on tap. Food was very nice.
Had a takeaway roast dinner from here recently and it really was perfect and extremely good value. First time we've been here and am so glad to have found such a gem! Thanks so much guys!
This place is fantastic. Visited with family for lunch, had a fantastic afternoon - we had an extra person that we had not booked for but staff were kind and accommodating.
Excellent drinks and food service!
Great atmosphere, the owner checked on our group a few times to check all was going well and was very friendly.
Will be recommending to others and definitely be back 😍
Warm welcome to us strangers 'off the street'. Knowledgeable about their beers and wines. Service with a smile - but not 'in your face'.
Nice varied menu including 'small portions' for 'interim fillers'.
Very reasonable bill. Have booked for our dining club at Christmas.
