Absolutely great! Great staff, great good, great atmosphere. BEST steak and ale pie all three of us have EVER tasted, and they didn't skimp on the beautiful gravy. We're home cooks but that pie was amazing!!! We will be back next time we're in Matlock (the Shiraz was lovely too!)

Went here on holiday as the home made steak and stilton pies were recommended, they did not disappoint, absolutely delicious, filled with meat and cheese and homemade made gravy, a general portion. Very friendly pub chatted to the locals .

Wow what a great experience of a family run pub for Sunday lunch. These guys run a basic but classic Sunday roast menu, but boy, do they do it well. We were a large family group and no one was left disappointed. Big plates of very well presented, tasty hot food. Da iawn, diolch! (Well done, thank you!)

Absolutely fantastic, we booked a table for 9 persons. We ordered mostly steak and ale pie and some burguers, all the food came right on time, really well prepared and definetly homemade. So I will really recommend visit this place, also the guys that are running are quite kind.

This is a lovely little proper pub which does a brilliant pie. I would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie, it's the best I have had in Matlock. The pub is dog friendly throughout and has a good atmosphere with a mix of locals and visitors. It does food Thursday - Sunday. There is free street parking outside.
